Overview
Elise is a character in Bungou Stray Dogs associated with the Port Mafia. She is constantly accompanied by the organization's leader, Ougai Mori, whom she addresses as Rintarou. While presenting the appearance of a cute young girl, she frequently torments Mori with a demanding and sharp-tongued attitude. In reality, she is not a human child, but a sentient ability manifestation created by Mori.
Appearance
Elise has long blonde hair with blue eyes, wearing a red hair bow alongside a red dress. Her outfit includes striped socks and Mary Jane shoes, with her clothes chosen by Ougai Mori. Her physical form is somewhat variable, allowing her to alter her appearance from a young child to an older girl.
Personality
Elise is a sweet tooth who holds the firm belief that sweets are justice. She behaves in a bratty, defiant, and sharp-tongued manner toward Ougai Mori, frequently complaining about him or hiding on purpose to make him upset. Her Speech pattern typically renders names in katakana. This rebellious personality is not natural, but rather a deliberate trait programmed into her by Mori.
Abilities
Elise is the physical ability manifestation generated by Ougai Mori's power, Vita Sexualis. She possesses the power of flight and can move at terrifying speeds during combat. In battle, she fights by summoning and wielding multiple oversized medical syringes to attack her opponents.
Background
Created directly from Ougai Mori's ability, Elise's personality and appearance are dictated by Mori's preferences; during his time as a military doctor, she was programmed to be quiet and obedient. Under the influence of Tatsuhiko Shibusawa's ability during the Dead Apple incident, she separated from Mori and attacked him. She was eventually defeated when Mori and Yukichi Fukuzawa executed a joint strategy to destroy their respective abilities, restoring her to Mori's control.
Relationships
Elise is fundamentally tied to Ougai Mori as his manifested ability. Although she routinely acts rebellious toward him and calls him Rintarou, she showed deep affection for him when separated from his control. In combat against Yukichi Fukuzawa, she pressured him with giant syringes before being struck down and dissipated.
Trivia
Her name is inferred to be derived from Elise, a character in the short story The Dancing Girl written by the historical author Ougai Mori. Her design and personality traits are also believed to draw inspiration from Mori's real-life daughter, Mari Mori.
