Overview

Alexei Barnes Aldarp is a supporting character in KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!. Serving as the feudal lord of the Axel region, he is a corrupt, self-serving noble who abuses his power for personal gain. Driven by greed and lecherous desires, he harbors an unhealthy obsession with Darkness, relentlessly scheming to force her into marriage.

Appearance

Aldarp is a large, overweight middle-aged man with a mustache. In his animated design, he is depicted with shoulder-length blonde hair, which is eventually exposed as a wig. In manga adaptations, he is alternatively drawn with a balding crown and a thick beard.

Personality

Aldarp embodies the classic corrupt aristocrat—callous, greedy, and thoroughly dishonest. He views women purely as disposable playthings, discarding them with minimal payouts after indulging his vices. Utterly ruthless, he does not hesitate to exploit others, including his own adoptive son, to secure his goals, all while arrogantly attributing his ill-gotten standing to his own capability.

Abilities

Aldarp commanded two powerful divine relics. The first allowed him to randomly summon monsters, which he used to conjure the high devil Maxwell; he then relied on Maxwell's memory-altering magic to erase all proof of his crimes. The second relic possessed the power to swap bodies between individuals, a device he intended to use to take over the bodies of others.

Background

After Kazuma accidentally caused his estate to be blown up during the Destroyer crisis, Aldarp sought revenge while pursuing Darkness. He orchestrated a scheme that buried the Dustiness family in debt and secretly cursed her father to force a marriage. However, Kazuma's party disrupted the ceremony, and Vanir tricked Aldarp into breaking his pact with Maxwell, leading to the devil dragging him to hell to feed on his terror forever.

Relationships

Aldarp fixes a predatory obsession on Darkness, stopping at nothing to coerce her into marriage, and secretly inflicts a dangerous curse on her father, Ignis. He views his upright adoptive son, Walther, merely as a vehicle for body-swapping. Though he used the devil Maxwell to cover up his corruption, he was ultimately outwitted by Vanir and delivered to Maxwell as eternal prey.

Trivia

The body-swapping relic he owned was eventually retrieved by Chris and Kazuma to prevent post-mortem misuse, and was unknowingly sealed away by Aqua. Following his sudden disappearance, all the misdeeds he had concealed were exposed, resulting in the total confiscation and restitution of his property.
