Overview
Godzilla Ultima is a colossal kaiju appearing in the anime series Godzilla Singular Point. Arriving as the third and final evolved state after undergoing earlier transformations through Godzilla Aquatilis, Amphibia, and Terrestris, it represents the ultimate form of Godzilla within the narrative. Local folklore in Nigashio City depicts this entity in ancient ukiyo-e prints under the name Koshira, marking it as a catastrophic force of unparalleled destruction.
Appearance
Godzilla Ultima features dark gray to pitch-black skin with armored folds reminiscent of rhino hide and texture inspired by bird feet. It maintains a heavy, near-upright posture supported by exceptionally thick hind legs. Its disproportionately large mouth lacks a tongue, revealing multiple rows of dense teeth, prominent fangs, and three tubes inside the throat. The head bears small eyes and backward-facing projections, with no visible ears. Flange-like skin folds line its arms, which feature downward-facing palms. White dorsal fins extending diagonally upward are laced with red vessel-like lines, complemented by a tail longer than its main body. Small Meganulon-like creatures nest across its skin.
Personality
Godzilla Ultima embodies an incomprehensible, terrifying presence that completely resists any form of communication or mutual understanding with humanity. It acts with absolute malice and efficiency against any entity entering its domain or perceived as a threat.
Abilities
It possesses an incredibly durable outer hide capable of shrugging off concentrated military attacks. Its signature capability is an atomic beam weapon: after its dorsal fins and mouth glow pale blue, it forms seven spatial rings in front of its jaws to bend space via gravitational lensing, compressing the beam into a concentrated laser that incinerates everything in its path. Additionally, it continuously releases vast quantities of Red Dust that distorts space-time, reshapes local ecosystems, and utilizes its massive weight and sweeping tail for devastating physical attacks.
Background
The entity emerged when Godzilla Terrestris metamorphosed amidst heavy gunfire from defense forces. Initially standing a few stories tall, it continuously absorbed Red Dust to expand until reaching a height exceeding 100 meters. Stationed at Tokyo Station, its presence as a space-time singularity threatened global collapse. It engaged in battle against Yun Arikawa and Jet Jaguar PP, ultimately being converted alongside Jet Jaguar into a massive structure of inert blue crystals when the completed Orthogonal Diagonalizer was detonated.
Relationships
It viewed Yun Arikawa and the piloted machine Jet Jaguar PP as direct threats, engaging them in a destructive conflict until its defeat. Shortly after reaching this state, it was attacked by a Manda in Tokyo, which it promptly incinerated using its atomic beam weapon.
Trivia
The moniker Ultima derives from the Latin word indicating an ultimate end or boundary limit. The in-universe ukiyo-e painting depicting Koshira visually references the traditional woodblock print Sanuki in Kenzoku o Shite Tametomo o Sukuu Zu by Utagawa Kuniyoshi.
