Overview

Samejima Abiko is a character from 【Oshi no Ko】. She is a 22-year-old female manga artist and the creator of the blockbuster battle manga Tokyo Blade. Having previously served as an assistant to Kichijouji Yoriko, the author of Sweet Today, Abiko possesses immense artistic talent alongside an uncompromising creative pride. Despite her explosive professional success, she suffers from severe social awkwardness and extreme introversion, playing a central role during the story arc surrounding the stage play adaptation of her work.

Appearance

She has short, wavy purple hair with bangs falling between her eyes, accompanied by purple eyes with slit pupils. When she experiences intense excitement or emotion, unique cross-shaped stars gleam inside her pupils. Her design features a visible collarbone, and she is portrayed alongside her mentor Kichijouji Yoriko on the cover of the sixth manga volume.

Personality

Abiko is an extreme introvert with severe social anxiety, often panicking and hiding behind others when confronted with crowds or attractive individuals. Although quiet in daily interactions, she becomes intensely passionate and talkative whenever the subject turns to manga. She holds immense pride in her personal talent, occasionally exhibiting an arrogant, childlike attitude by dismissing most creative works as trash. However, this stems from her absolute dedication to preserving the core identity of her characters. She is also prone to neglecting her personal lifestyle while secretly craving validation when relied upon by acquaintances.

Abilities

As a genius manga artist, Abiko possesses extraordinary drawing speed and stamina, capable of managing a weekly serialization entirely by herself using traditional paper and pen rather than digital tools. While she admits to struggling with drawing background art, her strengths lie in character expression and narrative structure. Beyond her manga work, she demonstrates impressive structural expertise, refining stage scripts and assisting with the organization of the film 15 Years of Lies by trimming redundant lines and optimizing scenes for actor performances.

Background

After attending Private Aoshiba High School, Abiko began her career as an assistant to Kichijouji Yoriko on Sweet Today. She subsequently launched her own battle manga, Tokyo Blade, which rapidly turned into a massive commercial success that eclipsed her mentor's work. When Tokyo Blade was adapted into a 2.5D stage play, miscommunications caused by editorial middlemen distorted her creative input, prompting her to demand a complete rewrite of the script. Guided by Hoshino Aqua and Yoriko, she attended a live theater performance and held direct video discussions with scriptwriter GOA, resolving the crisis and ensuring the play's success. She later contributed to the structure of the film 15 Years of Lies, and in the story's conclusion, announced her marriage while launching a collaborative manga titled ( ) with Yoriko.

Relationships

Kichijouji Yoriko is Abiko's former master and mentor. Abiko holds her in deep respect and relies heavily on her to navigate uncomfortable social situations, eventually teaming up with her to create a joint manga series. GOA, the stage play scriptwriter, was initially a source of fierce conflict due to editorial miscommunication, but direct dialogue turned him into a trusted collaborator with whom she shared a unified artistic vision. Hoshino Aqua pointed out her emotional immaturity as a creator, yet provided her the opportunity to appreciate theater production, later requesting her assistance in structuring the screenplay for 15 Years of Lies.

Trivia

To minimize spent time, Abiko practices a unique habit of brushing her teeth using two toothbrushes simultaneously, a detail inspired by creator Akasaka Aka's own real-life habit. Her high school alma mater's second manga club makes a subtle appearance in another work by the same author, Ren'ai Daikou. Furthermore, her messy daily lifestyle served as the direct reference model when writing the disheveled personal habits of Hoshino Ai for the movie script of 15 Years of Lies.
