Appearance
Whisper has a rounded, white, floating ghost-like physique with a pointed tuft on his head. He features black mask-like markings around his eyes, blue lips, and a wisp-like lower tail in place of legs. He is frequently depicted holding a smart device called the Youkai Pad.
Personality
Whisper is a highly boastful, lighthearted, and melodramatic character who calls himself an elite butler. Though he pretends to be an expert on all spirits, he routinely cheats by looking up information on his Youkai Pad. Despite being constantly disrespected, used as a shield, or beaten up by his peers, he shows extreme deference to Classic Youkai—whom he reverently calls 'senpai'—and maintains absolute loyalty to his master.
Abilities
Whisper possesses the skill 'Shittakaburi' (Know-it-all), which alters critical hit rates for all combatants on the field. In battle, he commands abilities such as 'Atemi' and 'Absorption,' and his Soultimate Move spews a foul breath that drastically lowers enemy defenses. Furthermore, his body housed the Youkai Watch Model Zero, allowing his mouth to act as a transformer between watch models.
Background
Whisper was sealed inside a capsule machine on a mountain for 190 years for a crime he did not commit. Upon being freed by the protagonist, he declared himself their butler out of gratitude. In the distant past during the Sengoku period, he was known by the name 'Whisbe' and served as a tactical advisor to the warlord Ishida Mitsunari.
Relationships
Whisper serves Keita Amano, who frequently calls out his lack of genuine knowledge. He shares a household with Jibanyan; despite their constant bickering and Jibanyan using him as a punching bag, Whisper considers him a precious ally. He holds immense respect for Classic Youkai, while facing disdain from Sebastian, another butler youkai who doubts his competence.
Trivia
When sleeping, Whisper has a bizarre habit of submerging his body into the floor while leaving his eyes wide open with his pupils rolled back. He is not a member of the Youkai Labor Union and spent a long time without possessing his own official Youkai Medal. His name is believed to play on the English word 'whisper' and references to phantom pop-culture figures.
