Overview
Acrobatic Silky is a yokai appearing in the manga and anime series Dandadan. Distinctive for her bright red long dress, silky black hair, and an inverted plate-like headpiece worn like a hat, she possesses remarkable flexibility and mobility. Driven by a intense attachment, she targets Aira Shiratori, initiating a series of chaotic encounters with the main cast.
Appearance
Acrobatic Silky features extremely long, silky black hair and wears a long red dress. On her head, she wears a large decorative piece shaped like an upside-down plate, resembling a hat. Her mouth can open unnaturally wide. After being hit by fire from within, her smooth hair transforms into a singed, frizzy perm, and she is later left in a severely worn state with most of her hair fallen out.
Personality
She speaks with a unique speech quirk, attached the polite prefix "o-" to various nouns in unusual ways. Her vocabulary includes fashionable slang from Japan's Bubble era, such as referring to delinquents as "tsuppari." While terrifying in her obsessive behavior as a yokai, her underlying nature is defined by a deeply affectionate and self-sacrificing maternal instinct.
Abilities
She utilizes ballet-like acrobatic movements to disorient opponents and delivers kicks powerful enough to shatter concrete. Her exceptional agility allows her to maneuver easily through cramped spaces and dodge high-speed attacks. She can freely manipulate her long hair to bind and constrict targets, and can open her mouth unnaturally wide to swallow opponents whole like a snake.
Background
In life, she was a struggling single mother skilled in ballet whose young daughter was taken by debt collectors. Overcome with grief after losing her child, she ended her life by dancing ballet on a rainy rooftop. As a yokai, she lost her memories until a young Aira Shiratori addressed her as a mother, sparking her profound obsession. Ultimately, she sacrifices her own spirit energy to restore Aira's life, regaining her human memories and passing on peacefully.
Relationships
In life, she had a beloved biological daughter whose loss drove her to despair. As a spirit, she projects her maternal love onto Aira Shiratori, who once called her mother as a child. This attachment leads her into violent conflict with Momo Ayase and Okarun as she attempts to claim Aira for herself.
Trivia
Due to her frequent use of slang popular during Japan's Bubble economy era, it is widely speculated that her human life took place around the late 1980s to early 1990s.
