Overview

Airi Sakura is a character in Classroom of the Elite who attends the Advanced Nurturing High School as a student in Class D. Severely introverted and socially anxious, she avoids public attention and keeps to herself in the classroom. Unbeknownst to most of her peers, she secretly operates as a popular internet gravure idol under the pseudonym Shizuku. Although her fear of communication initially isolates her, her interaction with Kiyotaka Ayanokouji inspires her to gradually break out of her shell.

Appearance

She features long pink hair styled in twintails with bangs hanging between her blue eyes, standing 153 cm tall with a distinct B96/W60/H90 body. She maintains a plain demeanor by wearing red-framed fake glasses and keeping a slouched, downward posture. Her attire consists of the academy uniform with a red blazer and white pleated skirt, alongside swimsuit attire on occasion. She regularly carries a digital camera and equips a hat and mask when attempting to conceal her identity.

Personality

Extremely timid and self-conscious, Airi struggles with eye contact and active communication. She lacks confidence and clear long-term goals, but possesses a gentle, conscientious nature that worries about causing discomfort to others. When posing before a camera or interacting with trusted friends, she displays a surprisingly expressive and cheerful dual side. She harbors a single-minded crush on Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, occasionally showing a watchful and possessive demeanor whenever he interacts with other female classmates.

Background

Airi began her career as the gravure idol Shizuku during middle school, placing formal activities on hold when enrolling at the Advanced Nurturing High School. Soon after starting school, she faced harassment from a stalker fan, but was saved through the intervention of Kiyotaka Ayanokouji and Honami Ichinose. Encouraged to testify as a witness in Ken Sudo's defense, she gradually built social ties and joined the Ayanokouji Group. During the Year 2 Unanimous Voting Special Exam, Ayanokouji proposed expelling the student with the lowest overall evaluation to preserve class points, resulting in Airi accepting her expulsion. She subsequently re-entered the entertainment industry, appearing on television programs.

Relationships

Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is her savior from her stalker, her first real friend, and her central romantic interest. She formed an enduring friendship with Haruka Hasebe through the Ayanokouji Group, while also maintaining warm bonds with Teruhiko Yukimura and Akito Miyake. She came forward to help Ken Sudo during his disciplinary dispute, and gently rejected a romantic confession from Haruki Yamauchi. In addition, she felt slight jealousy toward Suzune Horikita and apprehension toward Kei Karuizawa due to their proximity to Ayanokouji.

Trivia

Character designer Shunsaku Tomose stated that he gave Airi vibrant hair to visually balance her gloomy and quiet personality. Fans often discuss her official school performance ratings (OAA), noting how her physical and cognitive evaluation dropped sharply despite her solid academic test scores. After leaving the academy, she successfully resumed her modeling career and secured appearances on late-night television broadcasts.
