Mio Ibuki

Overview

Mio Ibuki is a character in the light novel series Classroom of the Elite created by Shogo Kinugasa. As a student in Class C at Advanced Nurturing High School, she possesses high marks in both academic ability and athletic proficiency. Though she fundamentally hates the ruthless and tyrannical methods of her class's leader Kakeru Ryuuen, she respects his capabilities enough to follow his commands, serving as an important core figure of her class while maintaining an independent lone-wolf status.

Appearance

Mio Ibuki has short blue hair with an ahoge and bangs hanging between her purple eyes. Her typical attire is the Advanced Nurturing High School uniform consisting of a red blazer and a white pleated skirt, worn with a brown cardigan underneath. Alternate official visual artwork depicts her wearing clothing such as traditional Japanese kimono and maid outfits.

Personality

Mio appears taciturn and distant on the surface, but she is intensely competitive and quick-tempered underneath. She lacks teamwork skills and rejects socializing, often speaking with a sharp and abrasive tone to keep others at arm's length. Despite her harsh stance and willingness to take part in shady actions under instruction, she retains a rational common-sense side and exhibits normal high school girl interests like fortune-telling and movies.

Abilities

Mio possesses formal martial arts experience, specializing in powerful kick techniques and close-quarters combat that place her among the top physical performers among female students. She is capable of executing covert espionage tactics and sabotage missions, though she struggles with psychological warfare and reading high-level mind games.

Background

During her first year, Mio acted as a spy for Class C in the uninhabited island survival test by pretending to be ousted by Ryuuen, infiltrating Class D's camp to sow discord. Although she successfully stole Suzune Horikita's keycard and defeated her in direct combat, her actions were completely anticipated by Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, leading to Class C's defeat. Since then, she has viewed both Horikita and Ayanokouji as targets for vengeance.

Relationships

She detests Kakeru Ryuuen's methods yet respects his leadership, carrying out his orders while frequently clashing with him. She maintains a relatively close friendship with Daichi Ishizaki and Hiyori Shiina, whereas she held a strong mutual animosity toward Shiho Manabe. After their physical clash, she formed a persistent rivalry with Suzune Horikita that eventually turned into reluctant cooperation, and she views Kiyotaka Ayanokouji with hostility after discovering his hidden capabilities.

Because she repeatedly runs into Kiyotaka Ayanokouji during side-story volumes—often getting accidentally trapped together in enclosed spaces like elevators or storage rooms while pursuing personal hobbies—she earned the humorous fan nickname of the '.5 volume heroine.'
