Arisu Sakayanagi

Overview

Arisu Sakayanagi is a key character and one of the main heroines in "Classroom of the Elite." As a student of Class A at the Advanced Nurturing High School and the daughter of the school's board chairman, Narumori Sakayanagi, she establishes herself as an absolute leader after winning a factional struggle against Kouhei Katsuragi. Born with a congenital heart condition that strictly prohibits physical exertion, she compensates for her physical limitations with supreme intellect and strategic foresight. She holds a long-standing fascination with Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, aware of his secret background prior to attending the school.

Appearance

Arisu has a remarkably petite build and fair, pale skin. She features silver-grey hair styled in a semi-long cut with straight-cut bangs, sidelocks, and a half-up braid, complemented by purple eyes. Her headwear is a black beret, and she wears the standard school uniform. Due to her illness, she relies on a walking cane whenever she travels.

Personality

Behind her polite manner of speech and refined, ladylike demeanor lies a calculating and aggressive temperament. Possessing absolute confidence in her natural brilliance, she tends to look down on others and treats even her allies as expendable pieces on a board. She shows no mercy to rivals, yet exhibits a surprisingly childlike reaction when teased about her small physical stature. While determined to defeat Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, she treats him with a unique blend of rivalry and genuine affection.

Abilities

Arisu possesses top-tier intellect, exceptional analytical ability, and razor-sharp decision-making skills. She excels in mind games and strategic activities like chess. Although her physical ability rating is extremely low due to her medical condition, leading to mandatory penalties in physical exams, her commanding presence and remote strategic planning more than make up for her physical shortcomings.

Background

Born into a prominent family of educators, Arisu visited the secret "White Room" facility at age seven with her father. Observing a young Kiyotaka Ayanokouji easily surpassing all performance metrics, she formed a conviction that true genius is innate rather than manufactured. She dedicated herself to proving this belief by defeating him. Upon enrolling in the Advanced Nurturing High School, she quickly consolidated power in Class A to setup an eventual contest of wits against him.

Relationships

Her father, Narumori Sakayanagi, serves as the school's chairman. She views Kiyotaka Ayanokouji as her ultimate rival and refers to him playfully as a childhood friend, eventually recognizing her romantic feelings for him. After undermining her class rival Kouhei Katsuragi, she relies on Masumi Kamuro, Masayoshi Hashimoto, and Hayato Kitou as her primary operatives. She also engages in complex rivalries with Kakeru Ryuuen, Honami Ichinose, and Miyabi Nagumo.

Trivia

Her given name, Arisu, shares its pronunciation with the Japanese transliteration of Alice, evoking a fantasy aesthetic. Her visual design was intentionally crafted to project an aura of overwhelming presence distinct from other female characters in the series.
