Background

Bound to Hinamizawa, she existed for centuries as a spirit unseen by normal humans, with only Rika Furude able to interact with her. Her habit of following victims while whispering apologies was perceived by sufferers of Hinamizawa Syndrome as phantom footsteps and voices. After trapped in a 100-year cycle of tragic time loops with Rika, she eventually moves past her helplessness, physically manifesting to aid her friends in breaking the loop.

Trivia
Hanyuu loves sweet foods, especially cream puffs, as well as fresh tofu. Conversely, she detests spicy food and alcohol, making her vulnerable to Rika's teasing whenever Rika eats kimchi or drinks wine due to their shared sense of taste. Her character design and traits served as a conceptual basis for Featherine Augustus Aurora in 'Umineko no Naku Koro ni'.
