Overview
Majima is the primary antagonist in the anime series Lycoris Recoil. Operating as a ruthless terrorist, he seeks to shatter the artificial peace maintained by the secret organization Direct Attack (DA) and restore what he conceives as balance to society. Cruel and unyielding, he stops at nothing to achieve his goals, yet holds a strict sense of principle toward those who share his ideals. As a prodigy evaluated by the Alan Institute, he develops a strong fascination with Chisato Nishikigi, another recipient of the organization's backing.
Appearance
Majima is a man with fluffy, short green hair featuring bangs falling between his eyes, paired with brown or yellow eyes and an absent brow line. He frequently sports a sinister smile and wears a patterned pink shirt underneath a dark long coat regardless of the season, completed with dress shoes. During the Radio Tower incident a decade prior, his hair was cropped short, and his eyes were bandaged under a pair of sunglasses. Beneath his clothes in the final battle, he wears a black, high-tech protective vest given to him by Shinji Yoshimatsu.
Personality
Driven by an obsession with equilibrium, Majima harbors a personal philosophy of imposing balance on a society controlled by government forces. He exhibits a callous and volatile temperament, ready to turn his weapon on allies or non-combatants without hesitation. Despite his cruelty, he values integrity, disdains underhanded methods such as surreptitious filming, and abides by a personal sense of fairness. He is a passionate fan of foreign action films, yet disdains bitter beverages, being unable to drink black coffee.
Abilities
Majima is highly skilled with firearms and explosives, capable of landing precise headshots from a moving vehicle. His physical prowess encompasses adept hand-to-hand combat and parkour, complemented by extraordinary hearing that allows him to use echolocation—such as clicking his tongue—to map dark spaces, track multiple targets, and discern individual body types. He possesses remarkable durability, surviving non-lethal strikes, close-range explosions, and falls from extreme heights. His primary weapon is a Chiappa Rhino 200DS revolver, supplemented by firearms like the PKM, AKMS, and KRISS Vector.
Background
A decade before the main events, Majima led the assault during the Old Radio Tower incident. Born blind, his acute hearing and combat gifts drew the attention of the Alan Institute, which granted him sight following the incident. After aligning with the hacker Robota, he discovered the existence of the Lycoris agents and targeted both DA headquarters and police infrastructure. He later seized the Enkuboku tower to broadcast the reality of Lycoris to the public and distributed weapons to citizens. Despite plunging from the tower after battling Chisato, he survived and returned to the shadows.
Relationships
He harbors a intense fixation on Chisato Nishikigi, identifying her as a fellow recipient of the Alan Institute's favor. He clashes repeatedly with Takina Inoue during his engagements with Chisato. He forms an alliance of convenience with the hacker Robota, utilizing his technological skills to extract DA data. Additionally, he abducts Shinji Yoshimatsu and Himegama of the Alan Institute, rejecting their attempts to dictate the course of human lives.
Trivia
When bored, he exhibits a habit of balancing his smartphone upright on its corner. He prefers black briefs for underwear. Due to experiencing gunfire directly beside his ears during combat at the old radio tower, he suffers a vulnerability to severe acoustic trauma from loud noises at close range.
