Appearance

Morisuke Yaku is characterized by his beige hair and notably short eyebrows. He has a shorter stature and wears Nekoma High School's volleyball uniform bearing the number 3.

Personality

Generally mild-mannered and caring, Yaku acts as a calm mediator within the team. While dedicated to guiding younger members, he can be quite strict during instruction. However, he is sensitive about his short height and will ruthlessly kick anyone who dares to mention it. He is also easily frightened by horror.

Abilities

He possesses superb receiving ability, allowing him to consistently dig powerful spikes from opposing attackers. Unlike some players who rely purely on instinct, he is also effective at teaching receiving techniques to younger teammates.

Background

After graduating, he pursued a professional volleyball career in Russia, joining Cheegle Ekaterinburg in the Russian Volleyball Super League, and ultimately earned a starting spot on the Japanese national team during the Tokyo Olympics.

Relationships

Yaku shares a relationship of mutual respect with Karasuno High's libero, Yuu Nishinoya, referring to each other by their first names as they continuously learn from one another. He also bonds with Karasuno's Koushi Sugawara over their shared roles as team caretakers. Among his teammates, he frequently disciplines and instructs the inexperienced first-year Haiba Lev.

Trivia

His favorite food is stir-fried vegetables. Fan speculation regarding the origin of his surname includes connections to nocturnal cats, Yakushima island (known for the Iriomote cat), or the cat-eyed gecko.
