Overview
Ryuunosuke Chiba is a character from Assassination Classroom. He is a male student in Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School, assigned seat number E-15. Reserved and rarely showing strong emotion, he possesses extraordinary long-range marksmanship skills, acting as the primary sniper who provides long-distance fire support during class assassination operations.
Appearance
Chiba has short black hair with unusually long front bangs that completely obscure his eyes. He utilizes individual strands of his bangs to divide his line of sight like a target sight. On rare occasions when visible, his eyes are a reddish-pink shade. Despite warm summer weather during a resort trip, he insisted on wearing a knit beanie. He has also been depicted wearing a wetsuit during specific operational assignments.
Personality
Chiba is a stoic, quiet student who rarely displays emotion and refrains from complaining or making excuses. Because his natural gaze was unusually intense and tended to make others feel overly guarded, he grew out his bangs to conceal his eyes and learned to keep his feelings guarded. He possesses a practical, task-focused mindset that relies on delivering solid results rather than self-assertion, winning strong confidence from both his instructors and peers.
Abilities
Chiba possesses exceptional spatial calculation ability, making him the top-ranked male marksman in Class 3-E. He holds the top score in stationary, ambush, and nighttime sniping tests, and ranks second in mobile sniping. His long-range precision is unmatched among his peers; wielding a Blaser R93 Tactical sniper rifle, he can strike distant targets accurately from over 100 meters away.
Background
Showing an early aptitude for spatial geometry and mathematics, Chiba channeled his strengths into sharp marksmanship during Class 3-E's assassination training. He maintained solid academic results, notably achieving high ranks in mathematics and end-of-term exams. Aspiring to become an architect, he helped draft architectural blueprints during class restoration projects and later pursued a career in architectural design.
Relationships
Chiba frequently pairs with Rinka Hayami, forming an elite sniping duo that operates with quiet efficiency. His instructors, Tadaomi Karasuma and Lovro, highly praise his long-distance sniping capabilities. Among his classmates, Kotaro Takebayashi assigned him the codename 'Galgame Protagonist,' and Chiba has engaged the artificial intelligence Ritsu in games of shogi, acknowledging her rapid learning capacity.
Trivia
Chiba enjoys hard-boiled eggs and Japanese hardcore punk music. As a young child, his dream career shifted from being a superhero series mechanic to a carpenter, before settling on becoming an architect. His codename, 'Galgame Protagonist,' was coined based on initial impressions of his hair covering his eyes. During a summer festival, his extreme accuracy alongside Rinka Hayami got them both banned from a shooting gallery stand.
