Overview

A shinobi from the Iwagakure clan in Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku. With an undisclosed gender, Shija was selected as a potential successor to the title of "Gabimaru." However, Shija's true motive is to return the moniker to its original bearer. Trained under brutal conditions alongside peers, Shija combines elite combat proficiency with a deadly, fanatic devotion.

Appearance

Shija's gender is unknown. The character is distinguished by long hair maintained with animal fat to keep it both strong and supple, allowing it to be used directly in combat. Shija is also equipped with a Hannya mask designated as Shinja.

Personality

Cold and merciless, Shija displays profound detachment toward others. Having lost most sensory awareness during horrific childhood training, Shija felt truly alive only when facing Gabimaru's deadly killing intent, leading to an absolute, unshakeable obsession with him. Shija despises humanity as a whole, dislikes vegetables, and addresses everyone other than Gabimaru with contemptuous terms.

Abilities

Trained by Iwagakure and guided by Gabimaru, Shija excels at perceiving an opponent's deepest emotional vulnerabilities and ruthlessly exploiting them. Shija's Ki attribute is Water. While capable of executing fire ninjutsu like Hiboushi, Shija produces pitch-black flames. Shija utilizes secret clan drugs such as Osoreshirazu and Yurakushirazu to paralyze foes, and commands specialized hair techniques, including Higeuchimono to launch hardened hair tips like projectiles and Kamishibari to extend hair through the air or soil to bind targets.

Background

Raised as a member of Iwagakure's 199th generation, Shija survived the clan's lethal training program to become an elite operative. Although chosen to inherit the deadly title of "Gabimaru the Hollow," Shija sought to hand the title back to its original owner and subsequently journeyed to the island to locate him.

Relationships

Shija holds an intense, fanatical devotion toward Gabimaru, centering every ambition and action around him. With Kumokiri, a fellow 199th-generation Iwagakure shinobi, Shija maintains a long-standing partnership, though Shija's calloused demeanor often creates trouble for Kumokiri.

Trivia

The name Shija originates from the assigned Hannya mask named Shinja. Shija's past missions with the 199th generation of Iwagakure and the nature of the obsession with Gabimaru are explored further in the spin-off novel, Hell's Paradise: Memories of the Waves.
