Overview
Shou Kusakabe is a key character in Fire Force. Serving as the Commander of the Knights of the Ashen Flame under the Evangelist's faction, he is the long-lost younger brother of the protagonist, Shinra Kusakabe. Identified as the Third Pillar who possesses an Adolla Burst, Shou initially opposes his brother due to memory manipulation, but eventually reconciles with Shinra to help save the world.
Appearance
Shou Kusakabe is an albino boy distinguished by his white hair and red eyes. He possesses a petite physical stature and carries a Japanese sword as his weapon in battle.
Personality
Having been raised by the Evangelist's faction with altered memories, Shou initially displays a stoic, emotionless, and cold demeanor. Lacking memories of his older brother Shinra Kusakabe, he acts with absolute detachment on the battlefield. Once his true memories are restored through their encounters, Shou regains his authentic emotional side, demonstrating the warmth and sincerity appropriate for his age toward his family.
Abilities
As a Third Generation pyrokinetic and the Third Pillar, Shou Kusakabe possesses an Adolla Burst. During an Adolla Link, he uses the technique Severed Universe, interfering with cosmic thermal expansion to manipulate time and freeze all motion around him except his own. Combining this time manipulation with refined swordsmanship using a katana, he strikes with undodgeable attacks. However, continuous usage causes frost to form across his body, freezing him as a dangerous drawback.
Background
Presumed to have died in a household fire twelve years prior, Shou was secretly abducted and raised by the Evangelist's faction. Raised with manipulated memories, he became the Commander of the Knights of the Ashen Flame and was designated the Third Pillar. He repeatedly clashed with his older brother, Shinra Kusakabe, but eventually regained his lost memories through an Adolla Link. After reconciling with Shinra, he fought alongside him to save the world, ultimately going on to attend school in the story's epilogue.
Relationships
Shinra Kusakabe is Shou's older brother; despite being separated in early childhood and clashing as enemies, they ultimately restore their strong brotherly bond. Within the Knights of the Ashen Flame, Shou was guarded by Arrow, who served as his loyal Guardian. He is also related to Mari Kusakabe.
Trivia
