Upscale

Make your image bigger and sharper without changing what's in it — like giving it a pair of glasses.

Upscale increases your image's resolution without altering its content — think of it as giving your image a pair of glasses: everything gets clearer, nothing gets redrawn. It's one of the two options behind the Enhance button, and it also lives as a standalone Image Upscaler tool that accepts uploads — you can sharpen any image, not just AI-generated ones.

Upscale vs. Image Enhance

The Enhance button offers two different things:

  • Upscale — pure resolution boost. Your image, but bigger and sharper. Settings: the AI algorithm (different models sharpen differently) and the upscale ratio.

  • Image Enhance — a regeneration at higher quality: it adjusts lighting, smooths textures, and polishes imperfections. Because it redraws, you control it with Denoising-Strength (0.4–0.6 recommended) and denoising steps.

Rule of thumb: happy with the image and just want it bigger? Upscale. Want the AI to actively improve it? Image Enhance.

Good to know

  • If you generated with the HiRes booster, Image Enhance isn't available for that image (it's already high-res).

  • Ultimate Upscale is not compatible with SDXL models.

  • Upscaled artworks can't be used with Variation.
