Overview
Ashuraman is a character from Kinnikuman and Kinnikuman II Sei. Known by the title Prince of the Demon Realm, he is an elite Devil Chojin and one of the formidable Six Devil Knights who serve Akuma Shogun. Characterized by his Asura-like physique featuring three faces and six arms, he is a versatile warrior who combines ruthless villainy with exceptional grappling mastery.
Appearance
Ashuraman has an Asura-inspired form with a crown that conceals snail-curled rahotsu hair and a muscular body. In the manga and the animated Kinnikuman II Sei series, his skin is depicted as blue, whereas the original anime adaptation gave him standard human skin tone. His physical hallmark is his six arms. His head is fitted with three rotatable mask-like faces representing laughter, cold-bloodedness, and anger. Beneath these masks lies his genuine face, which displays a crying expression. In his initial anime appearances, his faces were kept concealed.
Personality
Ashuraman possesses both royal dignity and villainous ruthless cruelty. While he initially embraces the strict devil ethos that forbids showing mercy, he harbors deep compassion and loyalty beneath his stern demeanor. Fond memories of his childhood instructor and strong bonds with his tag team partner occasionally bring his true emotions to the surface. He maintains immense pride as a wrestler, strictly honoring official match rules and showing respect to worthy rivals. In Kinnikuman II Sei, executing his own corrupted son left him bearing profound grief and complex isolation.
Abilities
Ashuraman utilizes his six arms to execute complex grappling techniques and holds. By rotating his three face masks, he adjusts his combat strategy, and switching to his cold-blooded mask allows him to circulate freezing blood to heal heat damage and burns. If he loses limbs in battle, he can use spiritual power to steal arms from opponents or deceased Chojin and attach them as his own. His signature attacks include the Ashura Buster alongside its evolved variations, the Ashura Izuna Otoshi, Ashura Gyorai, Tornado Hell, and the combined Ice Storm Hell. While empowered by the General Stone, he could also replicate Hell's Guillotine.
Background
Born into Demon Realm royalty, Ashuraman learned martial arts from Samson Teacher during his youth. He entered the main story as part of the Six Devil Knights, battling Terryman and Kinnikuman before being executed by Akuma Shogun. He later formed the Hagure Akuma Chojin Combi with Sunshine to enter the tag tournament, where he gradually reawakened to empathy and friendship. During the Throne Inheritance arc, he joined Kinnikuman Soldier's Chojin Ketsumeigun to aid Kinnikuman. He subsequently returned as a Devil Knight to combat the Perfect Origin, including Justice Man. In Kinnikuman II Sei, following a tragic family incident, he returned as a Demon Seed warrior to face the New Generation Chojin.
Relationships
Ashuraman served as a key officer under Akuma Shogun alongside the Six Devil Knights. He shares an enduring bond of loyalty with Sunshine, his partner in the Hagure Akuma Chojin Combi. He holds deep reverence for his childhood mentor, Samson Teacher (later Satan Cross). Inspired by Kinnikuman Soldier, he joined the Chojin Ketsumeigun, while establishing mutual respect with former foes Terryman and Kinnikuman. He clashed with Justice Man over ancestral history. In Kinnikuman II Sei, he was married to Yvonne and fathered Shiba, whom he tragically had to execute after the boy succumbed to evil instincts and killed Yvonne.
Trivia
Initial character concepts combined Shaka Mandala with Ashuraman, depicting him with two faces and four arms. Early serialized manga chapters also featured him with four arms before his classic six-armed appearance was established. Within the story lore, he holds a decorated record of titles, including victories in the World Chojin Lumberjack Championship and the Akuma Shogun Cup.
