Overview

Celeste is a recurring non-player character in Nintendo's Animal Crossing series. As the younger sister of the museum curator Blathers, she is a red owl who possesses a deep passion for astronomy and the celestial bodies. Throughout the franchise, she takes on various roles centered around starry skies, including managing museum observatories and visiting islands on nights with shooting stars.

Appearance

Celeste is a female red owl whose defining feature is a large pink bow attached to the back of her head, which is said to have been present even on her eggshell. She is nearsighted, wearing contact lenses when outdoors and glasses when relaxing inside her home. On certain occasions, such as seasonal events, she has also been seen wearing a brown beret and a cape.

Personality

Celeste has a somewhat shy personality. She dislikes being lumped together with her older brother Blathers, yet she naturally demonstrates habits identical to his. Due to her nocturnal nature, she often dozes off during the daytime, and she becomes remarkably enthusiastic and talkative whenever discussing astronomy and constellation lore.

Abilities

Celeste possesses extensive knowledge of astrophysics and constellations. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, during nights with shooting stars or meteor showers, she provides players who talk to her with specialized DIY recipes for star- and zodiac-themed items.

Background

Celeste debuted in Animal Crossing: Wild World, where she originally managed the museum's observatory, a role she continued through Animal Crossing: City Folk. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, she works on the second floor of the museum once it is unlocked through public works projects. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, she serves as a night visitor who appears on player islands during celestial events.

Relationships

Celeste is the younger sister of Blathers, the museum curator. Although she expresses annoyance at being compared to him, the siblings share striking similarities, including their nocturnal drowsiness and their shared academic passion—with Blathers focusing on natural history while Celeste focuses on astronomy.

Trivia

Celeste's official birthday is September 7, and her personal motto is "Winter Triangle." In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, she appears as a Spirit represented in battle by a Jigglypuff equipped with a bow, granting an item-attracting effect.
