Overview

Flick is a chameleon character introduced in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He serves as the host of the seasonal Bug-Off events and occasionally visits the player's island on weekdays. Referring to himself as a self-proclaimed arthropod artist, he is defined by his deep passion for insects.

Appearance

Flick is a chameleon with red skin, three small horns, and four spikes on his head. He wears a black sleeveless jacket over a grey shirt, paired with red plaid pants and black boots. His jacket's back features a crossed net and fishing rod logo. He also sports earrings and always carries a bug net with him.

Personality

Flick is intensely passionate about insects, regarding them with poetic reverence. Though he sports an edgy punk fashion sense, he easily becomes theatrical and emotionally invested whenever discussing bugs. He struggles against his natural instincts as a predator while holding a strong moral objection to harm or consume insects.

Abilities

Flick is a skilled sculptor who creates detailed, dynamic insect models when provided with three specimens of the same kind. He also manufactures the fish models requested through C.J. and writes associated letters. Additionally, he purchases insects from players at 1.5 times the standard shop price.

Background

Flick is the son of Nat, the previous Bug-Off host. Due to fundamental differences in how they view insects, Flick cut ties with his father. He grew up alongside his childhood friend C.J., with whom he currently shares a home and a business partnership.

Relationships

Flick is estranged from his father, Nat, largely due to conflict over Nat's habit of eating insects. He is close friends and roommates with C.J., the Fishing Tourney host, with whom he shares both a lifelong bond and a professional alliance.

Trivia

His Japanese name is believed to be inspired by the musician Skrillex. Although designed after a Jackson's chameleon, his distinct red coloration and horned head often cause players to mistake him for a dinosaur or dragon.
