Overview
Yuda is a fictional antagonist in the manga series Hokuto no Ken. As one of the Nanto Roku Seiken, he represents the Yosei (Star of Enchantment), also recognized as the Star of Betrayal. He is the sole successor of Nanto Kokaku Ken, a martial art centered on long-range cutting strikes. Defining himself through supreme narcissism, he maintains an obsession with absolute beauty while acting as a cunning and ruthless strategist.
Appearance
He is a tall, muscular male with long red hair styled in a braid and blue eyes. His attire includes shoulder armor, bracers, a green scarf, a purple cape, high-heeled boots, and decorative jewelry. Additionally, he sports red polish on his fingernails.
Personality
Yuda possesses an extreme degree of self-obsession, viewing himself as the undisputed pinnacle of beauty and martial strength. He is exceptionally deceitful and strategic, showing no hesitation in sacrificing his own subordinates to gain an advantage. Underneath his arrogant exterior lies a deep-seated jealousy and fascination toward Rei's fighting style.
Abilities
Mastering the Nanto Kokaku Ken style, Yuda strikes with rapid speed and projects sharp shockwaves over long distances. His technique Nanto Yoso Hazan allows him to bisect an opponent vertically using a single finger. With his ultimate move, Densho Reppa, he sends waves of cutting pressure along the ground, dealing greater damage at closer ranges. He also possesses the ultimate technique Kessho Shi.
Background
Yuda originally trained alongside Rei, but driven by envy over the beauty of Rei's moves, he turned to evil. Under instructions from Souther, he orchestrated the betrayal that shattered the unity of the Nanto Seiken. He later aligned with Ken-oh's forces and established fortified strongholds. When a dying Rei sought to defeat him, Yuda used underhanded tactics to trap him, yet ultimately suffered defeat at the hands of Rei's magnificent aerial strike. In his final moments, Yuda acknowledged the absolute beauty of Rei's martial arts.
Relationships
His central rivalry is with Rei, a fellow martial artist whose technique inspired in Yuda both jealousy and genuine reverence. Among his direct subordinates are Dagar and Komaku. He is also linked within the Nanto Roku Seiken hierarchy to Shin, Shu, Souther, and Yuria.
Trivia
Despite his grand claims, secondary statistics rank his absolute physical strength lower relative to other Nanto masters. In comedic spin-off works, his intense pride is often parodied through absurd overreactions to minor slights.
