Anya Forger is one of the central protagonists of SPY×FAMILY. She lives as the adopted daughter in the temporary Forger household. Appearance
Anya has shoulder-length pink hair with an ahoge on top and black cone-shaped hairpods covering her hair buns. She possesses large green eyes and is known for her wide array of exaggerated expressions, including a distinct smug grin. Her outfit consists of the black Eden Academy uniform, long-sleeved dresses, white socks or knee-high socks, and Mary Jane shoes. She is frequently seen carrying a stuffed toy named Director Chimera.
Personality
Inquisitive and full of energy, Anya is fascinated by secret identities and spy adventures, though she intensely dislikes studying. Due to past experiences, she is terrified of having her telepathy exposed, yet she is compassionate and bold enough to help others in trouble. Although praise can easily make her overly confident, she shows surprising resourcefulness during emergencies. She loves eating peanuts and watching spy cartoons, but fears thunderstorms and dislikes carrots. Her speech features childlike, slightly incorrect phrasing and unique names for her parents.
Abilities
Anya possesses telepathic powers that allow her to read the thoughts of those around her. However, her mind-reading capability becomes completely inactive during the phase of the new moon. Her ability can also be hindered in large crowds due to the overwhelming volume of incoming thoughts. Trained in self-defense by Yor Forger, she can deliver surprisingly strong physical strikes. Additionally, she displays a natural talent for comprehending classical language.
Background
Formerly known as Subject 007 in a clandestine laboratory, Anya escaped her confinement and took refuge in an orphanage. After being adopted and returned multiple times, she was chosen by Loid Forger, who required a child for Operation Strix. With Yor Forger joining as her mother, she successfully enrolled in Eden Academy. Throughout her school life, she gets mixed up in various incidents, earning academic commendation stars by rescuing a drowning child and aiding in the resolution of a bus hijacking.
Relationships
Anya is deeply attached to her adoptive parents, Loid Forger and Yor Forger, striving to keep the household together while keeping their secrets safe. She shares a strong connection with her pet dog Bond Forger and interacts regularly with her uncle Yuri Briar. At Eden Academy, she forms a close friendship with Becky Blackbell and maintains a complex relationship with Damian Desmond, whom she initially approaches to support Loid's covert objectives.
Trivia
Anya's design was adapted from the main character of the author's earlier work, Rengoku no Ashe. Her surname Forger relates to forgery, while her test subject number 007 and her dog's name Bond pay tribute to James Bond. Her signature smug expression became a major internet meme and was featured on official merchandise, including Uniqlo graphic tees. She originally spelled her name ANIA in Latin letters before Loid corrected it to ANYA.
