Yor Briar

Overview

Yor Forger (née Briar) is a primary heroine of the series SPY×FAMILY by Tatsuya Endo. Publicly employed as a 27-year-old female clerk at Berlint City Hall, she secretly operates as an elite hitwoman codenamed Thorn Princess for the clandestine organization known as Garden. To evade political suspicion directed at unmarried women, she enters into a marriage of convenience with Loid Forger—unaware of his true identity as a spy—and becomes the stepmother of Anya Forger.

Appearance

Yor is a beautiful woman with red eyes and long black hair, which she styles in a hair bun with long sidelocks. She accessorizes with a gold hairband, flower hair ornaments, and gold drop earrings. In her casual home wear, she attire consists of an off-shoulder red sweater dress that leaves her shoulders bare. When executing hit missions, she dons a black shoulderless dress with a red rose-patterned inner lining, paired with black thigh-high boots and black fingerless gloves, while carrying needle-like stiletto weapons.

Personality

Outside of her deadly occupation, Yor is remarkably gentle, polite, and airheaded. She possesses a humble nature and speaks formally, though she suffers from extreme shyness that causes her to lose control of her immense strength when deeply embarrassed. She has a notoriously low alcohol tolerance, becoming wildly chaotic when intoxicated. Despite being an utterly disastrous cook whose meals can knock out anyone who consumes them, she is profoundly kind-hearted and fiercely devoted to protecting her adopted family.

Abilities

Yor possesses nigh-superhuman physical capabilities, boasting colossal strength that allows her to kick moving vehicles off course, shatter blades, and bisect objects with ease. She exhibits extraordinary agility, speed capable of dodging gunfire, immense resilience to physical harm, and a high tolerance to lethal toxins. In combat, she utilizes needle-like stilettos and hand-to-hand techniques with lethal precision, backed by sharp sensory perception and stealth. Beyond her combat prowess, she excels exceptionally at household cleaning.

Background

Orphaned at a young age, Yor took up the path of an assassin to earn a living and single-handedly raise her younger brother Yuri. Under the orders of a figure known as the Shopkeeper in the organization Garden, she carried out executions of designated targets. After Yuri grew up and secured a stable job, Yor maintained her dual life until societal pressure against single women compelled her to seek a temporary partner. Meeting Loid Forger provided a mutually beneficial arrangement to form a counterfeit family.

Relationships

She shares a warm marriage of convenience with Loid Forger, whom she trusts completely while remaining oblivious to his espionage profession. She adores her stepdaughter, Anya Forger, caring for her with deep motherly affection. Her younger brother, Yuri Briar, possesses an intense sister complex and remains devoted to her above all else. In her underground career, she operates under the direct orders of the Shopkeeper, the leader of the Garden organization.

Trivia

Yor's maiden name Briar and her assassin alias Thorn Princess are derived from the traditional fairy tale Little Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty). Her primary choice of needle-like stilettos reflects this thorn theme. Her superhuman physical abilities and notoriously lethal cooking skills were adapted from concepts previously featured in author Tatsuya Endo's earlier one-shot manga work, I SPY.
