Overview

Meguru Bachira is one of the central characters in the sports manga series Blue Lock. As a participant in the titular Blue Lock training initiative, he serves primarily as a forward and winger, recognized for his high-level technical dribbling and unpredictable playing style. Guided by an internal concept he calls a monster, Bachira plays football with absolute freedom and pure intuition. Upon joining the facility, he is assigned to Team Z, where he forms a strong personal and tactical connection with Yoichi Isagi. Through various intense selection phases, he evolves from relying on others for companionship into an independent egoist chasing the title of the world's greatest striker.

Appearance

Meguru Bachira is characterized by his distinct short black hair styling bright yellow inner highlights and golden-yellow eyes. He stands at a height of 176 centimeters and wears shoes sized 27.5 centimeters. Throughout his appearances in the series, he is typically seen dressed in the standard athletic training attire provided by the Blue Lock facility or the respective uniforms of his assigned soccer teams.

Personality

Bachira possesses an innocent, whimsical, and highly eccentric personality, often acting on whim and bringing a lighthearted atmosphere to high-pressure situations. Extremely friendly and outgoing, he naturally gets along with others and frequently acts as a unifying presence within his team. However, his playful behavior conceals a deep underlying history of isolation. Having been misunderstood by peers in his youth, he developed an imaginary monster that guides his intuitive decisions on the field. Although he initially feared being left alone, he ultimately gains the resolve to embrace solitude and express his true ego through self-reliance.

Abilities

Bachira is an extraordinarily skilled dribbler who manipulates the ball with fluid rhythm, rapid touch changes, and acrobatic unpredictable moves to breach opposing defenses. He also possesses exceptional passing vision, delivering sharp passes that stimulate his teammates' instincts. Under the instruction of Lavinho in the Neo Egoist League, he synthesizes the ball-retention technique known as Ginga with his intuitive acrobatic skills to create the Ginga x Monster style. This method utilizes subtle balance shifts to induce enemy reactions before instantly countering and bypassing defenders.

Background

Bachira began playing soccer at age six, but his extraordinary vision alienated him from coaches and peers during his early years. Raised by his supportive artist mother, Yu, he entered the Blue Lock program seeking players who shared his passion. In the entry exam, he bonded with Yoichi Isagi after recognizing a shared instinct. During the Second Selection, after losing to Rin Itoshi's team and being selected by them, Bachira struggled with his dependency on others. He eventually experienced a breakthrough, rediscovering his individual soccer identity. He went on to represent Blue Lock in the U-20 Japan match and joined Team Barcha in the Neo Egoist League.

Relationships

Yoichi Isagi is Bachira's closest friend and rival, being the first player in Blue Lock to react to his inner monster and share his tactical rhythm. His mother, Yu Bachira, is a renowned artist who supported his unusual imaginative nature from early childhood. Rin Itoshi served as a major wall in his development, forcing Bachira to confront his emotional reliance on others and reclaim his independent play. Additionally, the Spanish master striker Lavinho served as his mentor in the Neo Egoist League, helping him refine his technical capabilities.

Trivia

His surname is believed to be derived from the traditional Japanese sweet Bachira Manju. Bachira once impulsively dribbled a soccer ball all the way from Chiba to Osaka during summer break just to visit his mother's art exhibition. His favorite foods include canned pineapples and raw egg over rice with soy sauce, and he frequently drinks carbonated water. Conversely, he dislikes mozuku seaweed. He struggles with academic subjects, particularly social studies, and his designated character color is yellow.
