Overview
Mikage Reo is a prominent character in the manga series Blue Lock and its spin-off Blue Lock -EPISODE Nagi-. As the wealthy heir to the Mikage Corporation, he entered the Blue Lock facility after playing for Hakuhou High School. Operating primarily as a versatile playmaker on the pitch, he possesses exceptionally balanced capabilities across attack and defense. He is also the key figure who recognized the potential of his classmate Nagi Seishiro and introduced him to soccer.
Appearance
Mikage Reo stands 185 cm tall and features distinct purple eyes and purple hair. His hairstyle includes a center part with framing strands left on the sides, which he ties up into a high bun during matches. He is depicted wearing white school attire as well as long-sleeved athletic gear and jackets.
Personality
Highly intelligent and naturally talented in academics and athletics, Reo grew up in extreme privilege where everything came easily, leaving him deeply bored until he found a personal goal in winning the World Cup. He is charismatic, friendly, and adept at taking charge of a team. However, having faced few obstacles early in life, he displays intense emotional vulnerability when confronted with unexpected rejection or failure. Driven by a constant desire for self-improvement, he frequently reads business books and engages in financial study.
Abilities
Reo is a complete all-round player whose speed, power, ball control, passing accuracy, and tactical decision-making are all held at a high standard. While his lack of an overwhelming specialized weapon initially led others to view him as a jack-of-all-trades, he overcomes this by developing the Chameleon style, allowing him to imitate and execute other players' techniques with near-perfect accuracy. His exceptional vision and pitch awareness further enhance his prowess as a midfield playmaker.
Background
Raised as the heir to the Mikage Corporation under heavy expectations to succeed the family business, Reo shifted his focus toward soccer after watching the World Cup during his first year of high school. Despite parental opposition, he pursued his ambition and recruited Nagi Seishiro after witnessing Nagi trap a dropped phone on a staircase. After forming a team at Hakuhou High, both entered the Blue Lock project. Reo led Team V during the first selection, but experienced severe emotional conflict in the second selection when Nagi chose to play alongside Isagi Yoichi, pushing Reo to evolve independently to survive.
Relationships
Nagi Seishiro is Reo's closest partner and classmate whom he introduced to soccer, though their dynamic undergoes intense strain during the second selection when Nagi seeks independent growth. Tsurugi Zantetsu served as his primary offensive teammate in Team V. Reo holds a fierce rivalry toward Isagi Yoichi, viewing him as the catalyst behind Nagi's sudden independence. During the second selection, Reo formed a team with Chigiri Hyoma and Kunigami Rensuke, and was later chosen by Shido Ryusei to advance after their matchup.
Trivia
His favorite food is Ishigaki beef rump roast, and he strongly dislikes dried sweet potatoes. His motto is to get everything he wants. Unusually business-savvy for a high school student, he regularly monitors stock market apps and reads financial publications. Demonstrating his technological and managerial aptitude, he helped fund and develop high-performance translation devices used during the Neo Egoist League.
