Overview

Ryuusei Shidou is a character in Blue Lock. He is an ultra-offensive striker participating in the Blue Lock project. An 18-year-old high school senior, he possesses exceptional individual talent and physical gifts, viewing playing football as a form of biological activity and searching for an emotional explosion on the pitch. Unyielding and fiercely self-centered, his unique talent leads him to serve as a key striker both for the U-20 Japan National Team and France's P-X-G in the Neo Egoist League.

Appearance

Shidou has sun-tanned dark skin and short, two-tone hair that stands upward overall, featuring two long strands of bangs hanging on either side of his face like antennae. He has upturned eyes with pink irises and colored eyelashes, alongside a well-defined set of abdominal muscles. His signature character color is shocking pink.

Personality

Shidou has an extraordinarily violent and aggressive temperament, showing no hesitation in resorting to physical force when irritated. He treats those who fail to excite his aesthetic sense with harsh disdain. However, he possesses a distinct artistic philosophy, framing matches as canvases and growth as explosions. When he acknowledges someone's genuine talent, he gives honest praise and can display an over-the-top friendly demeanor toward people he takes a liking to.

Shidou possesses Extreme Spatial Awareness, allowing him to accurately locate the goal within the penalty area even with his back turned. Supported by a strong core, power, and high agility, he produces powerful shots from unorthodox body angles inspired by martial arts. He also exhibits sharp observational insight, discerning opponents' strengths and weaknesses after brief contact. In the FLOW state, his spatial sense expands beyond the penalty area, enabling high-powered drive and overhead shots from distance. However, his defensive and playmaking skills are raw, and his self-contained playstyle lacks natural coordination with teammates.

Background

During the Second Selection, Shidou was issued a red card for assaulting an opponent, yet advanced using his raw individual talent. In the Third Selection, he ranked second among the Top 6 players. However, recurring physical brawls with Itoshi Rin resulted in his isolation in a disciplinary cell by Ego Jinpachi. Recognizing his raw potential, Itoshi Sae recruited him as the main striker for the U-20 Japan National Team, where he delivered a dominating second-half performance. In the Neo Egoist League, he joined France's P-X-G, scoring key goals through Charles's assists and securing an annual salary offer of 160 million yen to join the new U-20 national team.

Relationships

Shidou shares an intensely hostile rivalry with Itoshi Rin, as their contrasting philosophies lead to endless verbal and physical fights. In contrast, Itoshi Sae recognized his explosive talent, forming a deadly dynamic on the pitch and agreeing to exchange contact details. He holds high regard for Isagi Yoichi's rapid growth. Having crushed Kunigami Rensuke in the early selections, he faces tight man-marking from him during their later rematches. He also interacts with Oliver Aiku, who restrained his outbursts, and Charles Chevalier, who acts as his primary assist maker in P-X-G.

His name is believed to be derived from the words for direction and meteor. He loves yukhoe because it makes him feel like a predator, while disliking bean sprouts due to their frail shape. His favorite rice topping is butter and soy sauce wrapped in seaweed. He listens to hide's music, particularly Pink Spider, and enjoys the film A Clockwork Orange alongside the manga Chainsaw Man. His favorite school subjects are physical education and art, and he once stated he would bring pink paint to a deserted island to cover it in art.
