Sampling Steps
How many refinement passes the AI makes — more steps, more polish (and more credits).
Sampling steps control how many rounds of refinement the AI performs while creating your image. The AI starts from pure noise and cleans it up step by step until your picture emerges — more steps give it more opportunities to perfect the details.
Think of it like commissioning an artist: give them too little time and you get a rough sketch; give them a reasonable deadline and you get a polished illustration.
Recommended values on PixAI
Below ~12: danger zone. Expect warped faces, broken limbs, and that unfinished "melted" look.
15–20: quick drafts. Great for cheaply testing ideas and hunting for a good seed.
Default (~25–28): the sweet spot. Carefully chosen to produce good images across samplers and prompts.
35–40: final polish. Maximum detail for a keeper — reuse the same seed and prompt, just raise the steps.
Tips
More steps cost more Credits, and past ~40 the improvements get tiny — going higher isn't a magic quality button.
A smart workflow: explore at low steps → lock your seed → finish at high steps. See Seed_(concept) for why this preserves your image.
