Overview

A prominent hero in the Ultra Series, Astra is the younger twin brother of Ultraman Leo, originating from Planet L77 in the Leo Constellation. Following the destruction of his homeworld, he was captured by Alien Magma but was eventually rescued by Ultraman King. He later joined the Inter Galactic Peace Force and earned his place among the Ultra Brothers. Celebrated for arriving precisely when his brother needs aid, he also serves as an assistant instructor to Ultraman Zero.

Appearance

Astra stands 50 meters tall and weighs 49,000 tons. While his silhouette mirrors Ultraman Leo, his head sculpt features a softer, slightly less mature outline. His chest incorporates a unique protector with square openings, and his abdomen displays a secret sign representing his name. He has a beam lamp on his forehead, arm rings on both arms, and retains the Magmatic Chain as a prominent shackle around his left thigh.

Personality

In contrast to his wild and hot-blooded elder brother, Astra exhibits a more soft-spoken and reserved demeanor. He is respectful and courteous toward superiors and royalty, while interacting with peers and younger warriors in a friendly manner. Demonstrating a sincere and diligent nature, he routinely travels the space paths on solo patrols for Ultraman King, defined by an unwavering devotion to his brother and allies.

Abilities

Astra possesses a flight speed of Mach 20 and a jumping capacity of 400 meters. Enhanced by arm rings from Ultraman King, his physical strength surpasses his brother's, supporting a fighting style centered on rapid kickboxing. His signature attack is the red-glowing Astra Kick. He also utilizes the Shooting Beam, the forehead-based Electron Beam, and Ultra Reduction for miniaturization. Alongside Ultraman Leo, he delivers synchronized combination attacks such as the Ultra Double Flasher.

Background

When Planet L77 was destroyed by Alien Magma, Astra was trapped under rubble and captured, enduring severe torture before being saved by Ultraman King. Following his rescue, he roamed the stars and repeatedly arrived on Earth to assist Ultraman Leo during dire battles. After thwarting Alien Babarue's plot involving the Ultra Key, he was officially welcomed into the Ultra Brothers. He later operates with the Inter Galactic Peace Force, taking on reconnaissance and rescue missions across different dimensions.

Relationships

Astra maintains an inseparable bond with his twin brother, Ultraman Leo, demonstrating perfect combat synergy. He holds immense gratitude toward Ultraman King, who rescued him and entrusted him with vital gear and missions. He serves as an assistant instructor to Ultraman Zero during his training. Furthermore, he shares a historic connection with Ultraman Regulos from their past martial arts training, eventually joining forces with him against formidable adversaries.

Trivia

Astra's name was selected from a public naming contest during his original series broadcast, with proposed etymologies connecting it to the Greek word for stars or a tiger motif intended to balance his brother's lion theme. He is notably one of the few secondary Ultra Warriors who never came into conflict with the main protagonist. The mark on his abdomen functions as a stylized sign representing his own name.
