Hailing from the Land of Light in the M78 Nebula, he is the biological son of the Father of Ultra and the Mother of Ultra. On Earth, he bonded with Kotaro Higashi, a courageous young member of the defense team ZAT, to protect humanity from dangerous monsters and alien invaders. Appearance
Ultraman Tarou features a red and silver body design highlighted by two prominent Ultra Horns on his head. He initiates his transformation using the Ultra Badge, an item granted to him by the Mother of Ultra. When empowered by his fellow brothers to assume his Super Ultraman Tarou form, his entire body emits a brilliant, shimmering radiance.
Personality
Tarou is characterized by a bright, warmhearted nature and an unyielding sense of justice. As the pampered youngest brother among the core Ultra Brothers, he initially exhibited a somewhat confident and reckless streak, occasionally getting carried away due to his natural gifts. As he accumulated combat experience and took on greater responsibilities, he matured into a calm, wise, and dependable senior figure who demonstrates steadfast patience and compassion when encouraging his students.
Abilities
Capable of flying at speeds up to Mach 20, Tarou balances exceptional martial arts abilities, energy manipulation, and telekinetic powers. His signature finisher is the Storium Ray, and he can execute the self-sacrificing Ultra Dynamite technique. Through Ultra Overlapping, he merges with Zoffy, Ultraman, Ultraseven, Ultraman Jack, and Ultraman Ace to become Super Ultraman Tarou, enabling him to unleash the devastation of the Cosmo Miracle Ray.
Background
Born in the Land of Light, Tarou is the biological child of the Father of Ultra and Mother of Ultra. When Kotaro Higashi, an aspiring young boxer, sustained fatal injuries while confronting a monster attack on Earth, the Ultra 5 Brothers and Mother of Ultra saved his life by merging him with Tarou. Joining the defense organization ZAT, the duo defended Earth against countless alien and monster threats. Following his heroic duties on Earth, Tarou returned to M78, eventually rising to become the Chief Instructor of the Inter Galactic Defense Force to train future generations of heroes.
Relationships
Tarou is the biological son of the Father of Ultra and Mother of Ultra, the cousin of Ultraseven, and the father of Ultraman Taiga. He shares a strong fraternal bond with the elder Ultra Brothers—Zoffy, Ultraman, Ultraseven, Ultraman Jack, and Ultraman Ace. On Earth, he maintained a unified existence with Kotaro Higashi. As an instructor, he mentored Ultraman Mebius, while his past friendship with Ultraman Tregear eventually turned into a tragic opposition.
Trivia
The series title was originally planned as Ultraman Jack, but it was renamed to Tarou—inspired by traditional Japanese fairy tale characters—due to contemporary news concerning airplane hijackings. Ultraman Tarou is notable for being the only entry in the second-generation classic Ultra series to maintain its cheerful, family-friendly tone without undergoing major narrative course corrections. Additionally, in the American comic series ULTRAMAN x AVENGERS, Tarou is depicted as a formidable warrior who delivers a critical blow to the cosmic entity Galactus.
