Appearance
He features a streamlined red body paired with silver chest armor. His sculpted head design resembles a lion's mane, topped with a crest known as the Leop that serves as a radar and weapon. On his abdomen is an L77 secret sign denoting his identity. He sports the Leo Bracelet on his arms, and his human form wears the Leo Ring for transformation. In later depictions, he wears a white mantle gifted by Ultraman King.
Personality
Enduring the tragic loss of his homeland, he possesses an unyielding determination to protect his adopted world. Drawing from his own intense training experience, he takes a strict yet compassionate approach when mentoring younger warriors. Though he possessed a somewhat impulsive nature in his youth, overcoming adversity turned him into a deeply resilient and honorable hero.
Abilities
A master of Space Martial Arts, he relies on extraordinary physical strength, striking mastery, and flexible close-quarters combat techniques. His iconic finishing strike is the powerful flying Leo Kick, complemented by hand chops, precision punches, grappling throws, and unorthodox weapon techniques utilizing items like a nunchaku. He also wields various beam attacks—such as the Shooting Beam fired from his hands, the Energy Light Sphere, and forehead lamp flashes—alongside the versatile defensive and offensive capabilities of his mantle.
Background
After his native Planet L77 was annihilated by Alien Magma, he wandered space before reaching Earth. Living peacefully as Gen Otori, he was tasked with Earth's defense by an injured Ultraseven, leading him to join the MAC defense team. Through grueling training sessions, he repeatedly overcame terrifying opponents. Alongside his younger brother Astra, he saved the Land of Light, officially earning his place among the Ultra Brothers. Even after MAC was wiped out by terrifying Saucer Monsters, he persevered alone, eventually defeating Black End and embarking on a journey across Earth.
Relationships
He shares a profound bond with his younger brother Astra, with whom he performs combined attacks like the Ultra Double Flasher. Ultraseven served as his demanding mentor who entrusted him with Earth's defense; years later, he took on Ultraseven's son, Ultraman Zero, training him rigorously as his own pupil. He also assists in guiding younger heroes like Ultraman Z and holds immense reverence for Ultraman King.
Trivia
He holds the distinction of being the first Ultra hero created with an origin outside the M78 Nebula. His physical design incorporates foreign alien aesthetics, notably his lion-mane crest and distinct facial contours. His action scenes are widely remembered for their heavy emphasis on physical martial arts, including memorable moments such as improvising an industrial smokestack as a nunchaku in battle.
