Overview

Ultraman Agul is a giant superhero originating from the tokusatsu series Ultraman Gaia. Representing the ocean's light and natural will, he is transformed into by Hiroya Fujimiya, a former Alchemy Stars scientist, using the Agulater device. As a manifestation of the Earth itself, he operates without a fixed three-minute time limit, using his chest-mounted Life Gauge to show remaining energy. Initially fighting solely to protect the planet while rejecting humanity, he clashed with Ultraman Gaia before realizing his ideological errors and becoming his trusted partner.

Appearance

Ultraman Agul features a blue suit with angular eyes. In his default V1 form, his color scheme consists of blue, black, and silver, featuring a black line on his head crest and an Agul Breaster armor with two white stripes over a black center. In his upgraded V2 form, his body changes to a brighter blue with more white and reduced black, while his chest armor features a single gold stripe. His Supreme Version (SV) form adds prominent red accents representing land and extends the Bright Spot on his forehead.

Personality

Agul exhibits a calm, stylish, and highly composure-driven demeanor in combat. Driven initially by a radical ideology that humanity was a threat to the Earth, he acted with cold indifference toward human collateral damage. However, upon discovering his initial premises were flawed, he experienced profound inner remorse. He eventually developed strong determination and a protective duty, standing proud to fight alongside others for what truly matters.

Abilities

In V1 form, Agul utilizes the Agul Blade energy sword alongside beam attacks like the Photon Crusher, Liquidator, and Agul Slash. Upgrading to V2 greatly enhances his base physical attributes and capabilities, granting him the extended Agul Saber, the powerful Agul Stream fired by raising his right arm, the Photon Screw energy sphere, and the Agul V2 Kick. He can absorb direct damage with Body Barrier and execute powerful joint techniques with Gaia, such as Stream Explosion.

Background

Hiroya Fujimiya gained the power of Agul after encountering a mysterious blue light during an ocean experiment. Guided by corrupted data from the quantum computer Crisis, Fujimiya believed wiping out humanity was essential to save the planet, causing repeated battles against Ultraman Gaia. Upon discovering the truth behind the manipulated data, he gave his light to Gamu Takayama in despair. Later, driven by a renewed desire to protect the world, the ocean granted him new light, allowing him to resurface in his V2 form.

Relationships

Through his host Hiroya Fujimiya, Agul shared a bitter rivalry and clash of ideals with Ultraman Gaia (Gamu Takayama), which later evolved into deep mutual trust and an unbroken partnership. Over the course of his battles, he fought alongside Gaia as well as support forces from XIG and G.U.A.R.D. to defeat formidable foes such as Blitzblotz, Zebub, and Zog.

Trivia

The name Agul is a coined term derived from combining the English words 'aggressive' and 'agreement' alongside the Japanese word for evil ('aku'). His visual design draws inspiration from Ultraseven, reflected in his sharp eyes and mouth frame. Notably, he was the first character in the Ultraman franchise to be established purely in blue without any red elements in his base appearance.
