Overview
Ultraman Mebius is the central hero of his titular series and a rookie member of the Inter Galactic Defense Force sent from the Land of Light in Nebula M78. On Earth, he assumes the human form of Hibino Mirai and serves alongside the defense team CREW GUYS. Through numerous trials and bonds forged with his human allies and Ultra seniors, he matures into a formidable warrior, eventually earning his place among the legendary Ultra Brothers after defeating Alien Empera.
Appearance
Mebius features a silver-dominated body decorated with bold red accent lines. He has a diamond-shaped Color Timer embedded in his chest, which, along with gold accent components on his shoulders and sides, gives the impression of chest armor. His left arm sports the Mebius Brace. Distinctively, his facial visual structure was designed with the Tsushima leopard cat as a motif, featuring eye slits positioned above the pupils.
Personality
Initially characterized by a pure, earnest, and somewhat naive personality, Mebius possessed an endearingly innocent nature as a rookie. Though his lack of battle experience early on led to reckless mistakes, his flexibility and willingness to learn from failures allowed him to grow rapidly. Over time, he developed into a calm, reliable senior who offers guidance and gentle humor to younger Ultra Warriors.
Abilities
By channeling energy through the Mebius Brace on his left forearm, he can project signature techniques including the Mebium Shoot beam, the energy blade Mebium Blade, the electrical Lightning Counter, and the explosive Mebium Dynamite. His combat style emphasizes powerful physical attacks, showcasing precise kicks such as the Ryusei Kick and Mebius Pin Kick. He also possesses special skills like digitizing his form to enter virtual spaces, teleportation, creating light barriers, and freezing foes.
Background
Granted the Mebius Brace by the Father of Ultra, Mebius journeyed to Earth as a promising young guard. Inspired by the bravery of a young man named Ban Hiroto, he adopted the human likeness of Hibino Mirai and enlisted in CREW GUYS. Alongside his teammates and Ultra predecessors, he survived brutal battles against classic adversaries before delivering victory over Alien Empera. Following his Earth deployment, he continued to serve as a pivotal figure assisting newer generations.
Relationships
Ultraman Taro served as his direct master, influencing Mebius's martial techniques and skills. He received his arm brace directly from the Father of Ultra and shares a powerful bond of trust with Ultraman Hikari. In later years, he became a revered senior brother figure to younger heroes such as Ultraman Zero, Ultraman Taiga, and Ultraman Zett. His greatest historical nemesis was Alien Empera.
Trivia
Mebius is notable for being the first Ultra hero whose facial features were inspired by an animal, specifically the Tsushima leopard cat. An early concept placed his Color Timer inside the crystal circle of his Mebius Brace, but this was discarded because suit action impacts frequently broke the internal LEDs during filming. He also holds the distinction of being the last Ultra warrior officially dispatched to protect the Earth of the primary M78 universe timeline.
