Borr

Overview

Borr is a supporting character from the anime SSSS.GRIDMAN. He is a member of the Neon Genesis Junior High Students, a group of four supporters who assist Gridman in his battle against monsters, frequently visiting the junk shop used as the main characters' base.

Appearance

Despite his male gender, Borr has a petite appearance resembling a young girl, characterized by long blonde or orange hair worn in twintails and blue eyes. He wears a black suit with a black necktie, a long-sleeved shirt, and gloves. His character design lacks visible eyelashes.

Personality

Borr uses the masculine pronoun 'ore' and speaks in a harsh, blunt, and bossy tone that contrasts sharply with his youthful look. He acts like a short-tempered brat, frequently kicking Shou Utsumi in the shins when annoyed. He gets deeply offended whenever anyone treats him like a middle schooler or child. Despite his aggressive demeanor, he holds a strong sense of duty, respects favors shown to him, and acts as a surprisingly reliable older figure. He enjoys playing FPS games, dislikes bitter flavors, and shows a playful, childish side such as buying large amounts of pastries.

Abilities

By executing the Access Code 'BUSTER BORR', he transforms into the assist weapon Buster Borr, a tank equipped with twin drills and extensive firepower. In this state, he can fire fire-extinguishing bombs and solidifying payloads to immobilize targets. When combining with Gridman, they form Buster Gridman, unleashing destructive missile salvos and beam attacks. In human form, he carries a knife known as the Scrap Maker Dagger.

Background

Originating from the Hyper World, Borr arrives in Tsutsujidai alongside Samurai Calibur, Max, and Vit. Although older than the high school protagonists, he joins them under the banner of the Neon Genesis Junior High Students. Throughout their mission, he guards the Gridman Alliance members and provides firepower to protect the city from kaiju attacks.

Relationships

He works closely alongside his fellow supporters, Samurai Calibur, Max, and Vit. He frequently interacts with Shou Utsumi, regularly kicking his shins while maintaining a banter-filled dynamic. He is protective of Rikka Takarada and Yuta Hibiki, and shows respect toward Rikka's mother, insisting that characters like Anti properly express gratitude when offered food.

Trivia

His name derives from Borr, the title given to the Twin Driller vehicle in Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad, the American adaptation of Gridman. Visual elements of his outfit and his Scrap Maker Dagger reference the Dinobot Scorn from the live-action Transformers film series. In Gridman Universe, he shares a moment meeting Chise Asukagawa, who sports a similar twintail hairstyle.
