Eris Greyrat

Overview

Eris Greyrat (formerly Eris Boreas Greyrat) is one of the main heroines of the light novel series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. Born as a noblewoman of the Boreas Greyrat family in the Asura Kingdom, she is the second cousin of the protagonist, Rudeus Greyrat. Known initially for her wild demeanor that earned her the moniker Mad Dog, she displays exceptional genius in swordsmanship. After undergoing arduous training and journeying across continents, she eventually becomes one of Rudeus's wives, serving as a powerful warrior and loyal protector.

Appearance

Eris is a beautiful young woman with wavy crimson hair, red eyes, an ahoge, and a black hairband. She is well-endowed and has a tall, shapely figure as she matures. Her clothing includes a white shirt with exposed shoulders or midriff, sleeveless tops, jackets, gloves, stirrup pants, and white tights. During her travels across the Demon Continent, she wears a hood with ear-pockets designed for beastfolk, alongside a protective headband lined with an iron plate. Though she briefly cuts her hair short upon entering her intense training, it later grows back past her waist.

Personality

Eris begins as a fiery, short-tempered, and highly aggressive girl whose violent outbursts earned her the nickname Mad Dog. Beneath her fiery exterior, however, she is remarkably honest and willing to listen when given sensible explanations. While she lacks patience for academic learning and complex planning, she possesses a fierce loyalty and dedication to those she loves. Straightforward and broad-minded, she does not hold grudges over minor issues, holding a firm personal resolve to protect her cherished companions at all costs.

Abilities

Eris possesses exceptional natural talent in swordsmanship. Training under master swordsman Ghislaine Dedoldia and later Gal Farion at the Sword Sanctuary, she achieved the rank of Sword King within the Sword God Style. She mastered high-level techniques such as the Sword of Light and the Silent Sword, while also integrating techniques from the North God Style and demon race tactics. She additionally utilizes the physical striking technique known as the Boreas Punch. Although Rudeus taught her basic elemental magic in fire, water, and wind, her front-line combat style means she rarely casts magic in actual battles.

Background

Raised as a noble daughter of the Boreas family, Eris was expelled from noble school due to her wild behavior. Her life changed when Rudeus Greyrat became her tutor, teaching her basic academic subjects and magic. Following the Fittoa Teleportation Incident, she was transported to the Demon Continent, where she formed the party Dead End with Rudeus and Ruijerd Superdia to make the long journey back home. Feeling powerless after a near-fatal encounter with the Dragon God Orsted, she separated from Rudeus to train rigorously at the Sword Sanctuary. Returning years later as a master swordswoman, she reunited with Rudeus and became his third wife.

Relationships

Rudeus Greyrat is her former tutor and beloved husband. She holds high respect for Ghislaine Dedoldia, her sword instructor whom she views as an elder sister figure. During her journey on the Demon Continent, she relied heavily on Ruijerd Superdia, learning combat skills from him. She was deeply doted on by her grandfather Sauros Boreas Greyrat and her parents, Philip and Hilda. At the Sword Sanctuary, she developed strong friendships with her training rivals Nina Farion and Isolte Cruel.

Trivia

Her family name Boreas originates from the Greek god of the north wind. Voice actress Ai Kakuma revealed that she watched videos of roaring lions and wolves to prepare for Eris's ferocious voice role. Due to her long absence from the main narrative during her intense martial training, a popular running meme among fans emerged stating that Eris is currently training. She also has a humorous habit of tightly hugging whatever or whoever is next to her while sleeping.
