Overview
Ruijerd Superdia is a key supporting character in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. As a warrior of the Superd race—a demon clan widely feared under the moniker Dead End—he is the former leader of his people's warrior corps. Recognized by his emerald green hair and the red gemstone on his forehead, he bears the burden of a tragic past that cast his race as bloodthirsty monsters. Driven by an unshakeable warrior code that compels him to protect children, Ruijerd joins Rudeus Greyrat and Eris Boreas Greyrat following the Teleportation Incident, serving as their steadfast protector across the Demon Continent.
Appearance
Ruijerd has porcelain-white skin, a vertical scar across his face, and a distinct red sensory gemstone embedded in his forehead. He originally possesses emerald green hair, but later shaves his head completely bald to avoid being recognized as a Superd warrior. He has a muscular build and wears simple ethnic clothing, alongside a headband reinforced with an iron plate to conceal his forehead gem. His primary weapon is a white trident formed from his late son's hardened tail.
Personality
Possessing a quiet, stoic, and stubborn demeanor, Ruijerd operates under a strict warrior code that dictates protecting children and revering allies above all else. He holds an absolute affection for young people, reacting with intense severity toward anyone who dares harm a child. While centuries of ostracization made him cold toward criminals, his journey with Rudeus Greyrat helps temper his ruthless instincts, encouraging him to seek peaceful resolutions where possible. Beneath his intimidating exterior lies a deeply honorable and caring soul committed to redeeming his people's reputation.
Abilities
With over five centuries of battle experience, Ruijerd commands martial prowess equal to an Emperor-grade swordsman. His forehead gemstone allows him to perceive surrounding mana and sense living beings, granting him exceptional combat effectiveness in melee brawls and obstructed environments. He wields an indestructible white trident that becomes sharper and more piercing through continuous training and use. In addition, he utilizes unique demon combat techniques, such as manipulating an opponent's movements with his gaze and directing his killing intent effectively.
Background
During the Laplace War 400 years ago, Ruijerd led the Superd warrior corps under Demon God Laplace. Tricked into accepting cursed spears, the entire clan lost their sanity and engaged in indiscriminate slaughter. After his son sacrificed himself to break the curse's hold on Ruijerd, he rallied the survivors and struck down Laplace. However, the Superd race became reviled as bloodthirsty demons under the name Dead End. Ruijerd spent four centuries wandering the world to rescue children and locate surviving kinsmen. Following the Teleportation Incident, he escorted Rudeus Greyrat and Eris Boreas Greyrat back to the Central Continent. He eventually reunited with his remaining clan members and later married Norn Greyrat, fathering a daughter named Ruijelia.
Relationships
Ruijerd forms a bond of profound mutual trust with Rudeus Greyrat, respecting him as a true warrior. He serves as a strict combat mentor to Eris Boreas Greyrat, helping her refine her battle instincts into elite strength. He harbors intense enmity toward Demon God Laplace for cursing his clan. Later in life, he builds a close connection with Norn Greyrat, whom he saved in his travels; the two eventually marry and have a daughter together named Ruijelia Superdia.
Trivia
The concept and design of the Superd race were inspired by the fictional Kara race from AliceSoft's Rance series. Additionally, after Ruijerd shaves his emerald hair to become bald, his visual appearance is frequently compared by fans to the character Tien Shinhan from Dragon Ball.
