Linia Dedoldia

Overview

Linia Dedoldia, commonly known by the nickname Linia, is a character in the light novel series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation and its adaptations. She is a feline beastfolk princess belonging to the royal lineage of the Dedoldia tribe, hailing from the Great Forest. As the eldest daughter of the tribal leader Gyes and the niece of Ghislaine, she was sent to study at the Ranoa University of Magic alongside her childhood friend Pursena. After being defeated by Rudeus Greyrat, she begins addressing him as Boss.

Appearance

Linia is a feline beastfolk with silver hair, red eyes, cat ears, and a tail. During her time at the Ranoa University of Magic, she wears the student uniform, and later in the story, she is seen wearing maid attire.

Personality

Linia has a distinct speech habit of ending her sentences with a feline verbal tic. Impulsive, simple-minded, and easily provoked, she relies on instigating fights and enforcing hierarchical status. While she acts as a charismatic leader among campus delinquents, she is easily intimidated by authority figures or opponents superior in strength. Although lacking in intellectual sharpness, she possesses a natural ability to leverage personal connections.

Abilities

Linia leverages her species' high agility and physical strength in combat. She can utilize the beastfolk's unique Voice Magic and specialized in offensive magic at the university. Her magic proficiency includes Advanced-tier Fire Magic, Intermediate-tier Water Magic, and Beginner-tier spells in Earth, Wind, Healing, and Detoxification. In battle, she coordinates with Pursena, using martial arts and magic to confuse opponents while supported from the rear.

Background

Attending the Ranoa University of Magic as a special student, Linia initially exerted strong authority over the student body. Her reign ended when she destroyed Roxy's figurine, enraging Rudeus Greyrat; after being restrained and humbled, she accepted him as her superior. Upon graduation, she pursued a career as a merchant, but her lack of caution led to being scammed and sold into slavery. She was recovered by Rudeus after being encountered by Eris. Following an unsuccessful stint as a domestic maid at the Greyrat residence, she leveraged her networking skills with Aisha's assistance to establish and lead the Rudo Mercenary Company.

Relationships

Linia is the eldest daughter of the Dedoldia warrior leader Gyes, the niece of Ghislaine Dedoldia, and the elder sister of Minitona. Pursena Adoldia is her close childhood friend and constant companion. After her defeat, she developed a submissive reverence toward Rudeus Greyrat, addressing him as Boss. She also works closely with Aisha Greyrat, who assists her in managing the mercenary business.

Trivia

During early story planning, her younger sister Minitona—who was rescued by Rudeus in the Great Forest—was originally intended to rejoin the narrative at the university. However, to avoid geographical and narrative inconsistencies, Linia was created to take on that role instead.
