Overview

Kaldo Gehenna is a high-ranking wizard in the series Mashle: Magic and Muscles. Recognized as a Divine Visionary with the title of The Flame Cane, he holds the executive position of Head of the Magic Talent Administration within the Bureau of Magic. In this administrative role, he is tasked with evaluating prospective bureau inductees as well as screening candidates for the annual Divine Visionary selection. Behind his refined demeanor and polished look lies an unreadable and enigmatic figure.

Appearance

Kaldo is a handsome young man with white hair, distinct narrow eyes that are rarely shown open, and a perpetual smile. His facial mark consists of two lines intersecting in an X-shape across his right cheek. Worn at his waist is a traditional sword passed down through his esteemed family, which conceals his magic wand within its scabbard.

Personality

Maintaining a polite and suave demeanor, Kaldo interacts with everyone in a courteous yet detached and hard-to-read manner. Beneath this slick exterior is a shocking passion for sweets, highlighted by an unconventional taste palette that leads him to drown raw fish in honey. While this peculiar diet earns him exasperated reactions from peers, his perception as an administrator is genuine, allowing him to identify unseen potential in others.

Abilities

In battle, Kaldo wields a sword enchanted with unquenchable black flames that continuously burn anything they touch until completely consumed, making even a slight graze lethal. He can also enter a powered-up state known as Worker Bee Mode by drinking honey directly from a jar. When activated, his eyes light up, granting him enough physical strength to turn massive mechanisms that normally require several high-level mages.

Background

Hailing from a prominent family, Kaldo discovered his deep love for sweets the first time he put honey on toast. Rising through the ranks of the Bureau of Magic to become the Head of the Magic Talent Administration, he maintains order as a Divine Visionary. During the inquiry regarding Mash Burnedead's lack of magic, Kaldo agreed with strict protocol while privately taking an interest in the boy, testing Mash's physical instincts in a hazardous game before the exams.

Relationships

Kaldo takes a personal interest in Mash Burnedead, testing him directly despite adhering to bureau protocol. He also recognizes the latent talent of Finn Ames, the younger brother of fellow Visionary Rain Ames, helping spark the boy's growth. His interactions with Ryoh Grantz include serving him his honey-covered raw fish, a dish Ryoh found completely revolting.

Trivia

Kaldo proved to be exceptionally popular among readers, securing a top position in official character popularity polls. Additionally, his bizarre culinary creation of raw fish topped with honey was later adopted by the Bureau of Magic as an intense interrogation method.
