Overview
Mash Burnedead is the main protagonist of the manga and anime series Mashle: Magic and Muscles. In a society where magical ability dictates social status and survival, he is a rare individual born completely devoid of magic. To secure a peaceful life with his adoptive father, he enrolls in a magical academy with the aim of achieving the prestigious title of Divine Visionary. Unfamiliar with common sense, he relies entirely on his extraordinarily trained physical power to overpower all magical threats.
Appearance
Mash is a young man characterized by short black hair cut in a bowl style and yellow eyes. He has a vertical mark on his face. His standard attire consists of a long-sleeved collared shirt with a red necktie, paired with a jacket and dark outer robes. Underneath his school uniform, he wears tight under-armor garments and white shorts suitable for training.
Personality
Mash possesses a stoic, deadpan demeanor and rarely shows intense emotional expressions. He lacks ordinary social awareness and frequently acts on strange logic, leading to comical situations. He has an overwhelming obsession with cream puffs, often placing high priority on eating or making them regardless of the circumstances. Despite his eccentricities, he holds strong devotion toward his family and companions, showing uncompromising resolve when protecting them.
Abilities
Completely lacking magical power, Mash compensates with logic-defying, superhuman physical strength. He negates and crushes magical assaults through sheer muscle power, engaging in combat using powerful strikes and physical maneuvers. His immense force often results in the inadvertent destruction of structures and doors.
Background
Born unable to cast magic, Mash was raised in seclusion by his adoptive father, Regro Burnedead. To survive in a harsh society, he underwent intense daily physical conditioning under Regro's care. After his lack of magic was discovered by authorities, he entered Easton Magic Academy and joined the Adler dorm, setting his sights on the title of Divine Visionary to protect his quiet life.
Relationships
Mash holds deep respect and affection for his adoptive father, Regro Burnedead, acting primarily to safeguard their quiet lifestyle. At Easton Magic Academy, he forms strong bonds of friendship with Finn Ames, Lance Crown, Dot Barrett, and Lemon Irvine. He also has a connection to Brad Coleman, who was involved in concealing Mash's magicless nature by giving him his facial mark.
Trivia
His distinctive bowl haircut has earned him the casual nickname Mushroom Head. He notably struggles with the concept of pushing or pulling doors open, frequently breaking them instead.
