Overview

A major character in Dr. STONE, Stanley Snyder is a former captain of a United States military special forces unit who serves as the chief military commander for Dr. Xeno's faction. Highly skilled in combat tactics, sniping, and leadership, he initially stands as a formidable antagonist against Senku Ishigami and the Kingdom of Science during their clash in the Americas. His top-tier combat, tactical decision-making, and operational capabilities later earn him a pivotal role as one of the key astronauts selected for the crucial space expedition to the moon.

Appearance

He is a man with handsome features, yellow eyes, and blonde hair with long bangs styled in an M-shape, though early color artwork depicted his hair as silver. His attire consists of military officer uniforms, skin-tight tactical suits, and protective body armor. A defining visual trait is the cigarette constantly dangling from his lips, which replaced the waist pouch filled with lollipops that he carried during his childhood years.

Personality

He possesses an exceptionally calm, disciplined, and decisive nature, acting as a patient yet formidable military commander. Toward designated targets, he displays cold efficiency, issuing ruthless attack orders without accepting surrenders, yet he conscientiously avoids harming innocent civilians. He harbors unwavering loyalty toward his childhood friend Dr. Xeno, supporting Xeno's scientific ambitions without hesitation. He maintains an intensely confident mindset, routinely asserting his ability to execute any given mission successfully.

Abilities

He possesses extraordinary ballistic calculation instincts, allowing him to precisely hit long-range targets or calibrate custom electromagnetic cannons purely by feel. Masterful with handguns, machine guns, sniper rifles, and combat knives, he represents the pinnacle of individual military efficiency. Furthermore, he is an elite pilot capable of operating land, sea, air, and space vehicles, once flying an aircraft while firing a machine gun single-handedly and docking a spacecraft with a partially malfunctioning display.

Background

During his childhood, he encountered Dr. Xeno testing a homemade electromagnetic cannon and assisted him, becoming Xeno's first friend. By age twenty-two, he had achieved the rank of the youngest special forces captain in the United States military. When the global petrification phenomenon struck, he ordered his squad to maintain consciousness before turning to stone. Unpetrified millenia later by Dr. Xeno, he helped build the American colony and engaged in intense tactical warfare against Senku Ishigami's forces. Following a second petrification in South America, he was unpetrified once more to join the lunar expedition team as an essential astronaut.

Relationships

He shares a profound, lifelong bond with Dr. Xeno, serving as his unwavering military protector and executor. His dynamic with Ryusui Nanami began as an intense rivalry between elite pilots; however, Ryusui later voluntarily stepped aside to award him the astronaut pilot position out of high respect for his skill. Although he initially sought to assassinate Senku Ishigami under Xeno's directives, he eventually formed a unified front with the Kingdom of Science. His former military subordinates, including Charlotte Bonnie, view him with immense admiration.

Trivia

He is one of the rare characters in the series to undergo petrification four separate times. His hair color was depicted as silver in early color spreads before being permanently updated to blonde. While he carried a pouch of lollipops during childhood, he transitioned to chain-smoking in adulthood to relieve stress, ultimately founding the new world's very first commercial tobacco brand alongside Dr. Xeno.
