Overview
Mineru is a character in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. As the elder sister of Hyrule's founding monarch King Rauru, she is one of the last remaining Zonai and holds the title of the Sage of Spirit. Having fought against the Demon King Ganondorf during the ancient Imprisoning War, her soul survived into the modern era even after her physical body perished. Carrying deep remorse for her role in the events leading to the Demon King's creation, she pledges her full strength to support Link in defeating the evil threat.
Appearance
Mineru bears the traits of the Zonai tribe, featuring short white hair, blue eyes, purple eyeshadow, colored eyelashes, facial markings, a long neck, and animal-like ears. Her physical form includes body fur, colored skin, and long fingernails, complemented by jewelry such as bracelets, rings, and a hagoromo-style shawl. Having lost her biological body, she manifests in the present era by possessing a mechanical Zonai Construct.
Personality
Unlike her easygoing brother Rauru, Mineru exhibits a calm, composition-focused demeanor and speaks politely to everyone. Highly intelligent and knowledgeable, she occasionally gets carried away when discussing secret stone lore, revealing sensitive information. She feels a heavy weight of responsibility for the rise of the Demon King and the tragedies surrounding Sonia, attributing them to her own misjudgments, which fuels her unwavering resolve to aid the future of Hyrule.
Abilities
Mineru possesses the ability to detach her soul from her body and inhabit other organic or inorganic objects, allowing her spirit to endure within items like the Purah Pad or a Zonai Construct. When inhabiting the Construct, it can act independently or be piloted by Link. In pilot mode, the unit protects Link from gloom damage, deploys an energy shield, and smashes ore deposits with bare fists. Various items and Zonai devices can also be fused to its arms and back to bolster combat range and movement speed.
Background
In ancient Hyrule, Mineru resided with King Rauru and befriended Zelda when she arrived from the future. Joining the Imprisoning War as the Sage of Spirit after Sonia's death, Mineru suffered fatal gloom corruption in battle. Witnessing Rauru's ultimate sacrifice to seal the Demon King and Zelda's plan to restore the Master Sword, she separated her soul from her dying body into the Purah Pad. In the present era, Link assembles a new Zonai Construct body for her spirit, enabling her to aid him until the Demon King's downfall, after which she peacefully ascends.
Relationships
Mineru is the elder sister of King Rauru, sharing a foundation of mutual trust. She cared deeply for Queen Sonia and for her distant descendant Zelda, whose determination inspired Mineru to pledge her immortal assistance. In the present day, she accompanies the hero Link as a faithful ally. She also fights side-by-side with the contemporary sages—Tulin, Yunobo, Sidon, and Riju—during the final battle against Ganondorf.
Trivia
Her attribute as the Sage of Spirit and late-game recruitment parallel the character Nabooru from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Fans frequently refer to her by the blended nickname Minego, combining her name with Golem and the term Anego. Unlike the other sages who send energy avatars to accompany Link, Mineru is unique in that her actual physical vessel—the Zonai Construct carrying her soul—directly travels alongside the hero.
