Tri

Overview

Tri is a fairy who appears as the primary companion in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Tasked with repairing the mysterious rifts appearing across Hyrule, Tri joins Princess Zelda on her journey to save the kingdom after being rescued from captivity.

Appearance

Tri possesses a unique design reminiscent of the Korok species, featuring a floating cluster of three golden triangles above its head resembling the Triforce. Its presence and voice are completely invisible and inaudible to normal humans, remaining perceptible only to deities, related entities, or those who have previously entered a rift.

Personality

Tri speaks in a childlike manner using the personal pronoun 'boku.' Initially detached from human emotions, it lacks an understanding of concepts like conflict or gratitude and often speaks with straightforward indifference. Despite this initial stoicism, Tri possesses a strong sense of duty toward saving the people of Hyrule and gradually develops emotional warmth, learning the meaning of appreciation and sadness through its journey alongside Princess Zelda.

Abilities

Tri grants Princess Zelda the Tri Rod, enabling her to create 'Echoes' of objects and monsters. It also facilitates the 'Bind' ability, synchronizing Zelda's movements with targets. The glowing triangles floating above its head indicate its current energy capacity for creating Echoes, reducing as costs are spent. By rescuing missing companions from the Still World, Tri gains experience and levels up, increasing its maximum cost capacity and enhancing its ability to cast Echoes at greater distances.

Background

Tri was originally dispatched alongside its kin to mend the rifts threatening the world, but it was captured and used as an energy source by Ganon. Freed during Link's battle, Tri guided Princess Zelda out of danger and bestowed upon her a magical rod to aid in their shared quest. Together, they traveled across Hyrule to mend the landscape and defeat the ancient evil rooted beneath the world. Once the threat was eliminated and its divine purpose fulfilled, Tri bade a heartfelt farewell to Zelda before returning to slumber alongside the goddesses.

Relationships

Tri shares a deep and indispensable bond with Princess Zelda, serving as her guide and companion throughout their quest to restore the realm. During their journey, Impa helps Tri understand the concept and emotional weight of expressing gratitude.

Trivia

The name Tri and the three floating triangles above its head are designed in reference to the iconic Triforce from The Legend of Zelda series.
