She has brown eyes and medium-length brown hair bound back in a high ponytail. Her standard attire is a bright pink kimono styled with traditional sash accents. Visually recognized as a remarkably attractive young woman, she nonetheless has a very flat chest, a physical trait about which she is deeply self-conscious.

Following the death of her father, she took on the sole responsibility of supporting her younger brother and preserving their family home. Throughout numerous turmoil-filled events in Kabukicho, she consistently stands strong to shield her brother and companions, earning her a powerful status in the district.
Relationships
She is intensely protective of her younger brother, Shimura Shinpachi, and treats Kagura like a little sister. She maintains a snarky yet trusting dynamic with Sakata Gintoki. Kondo Isao relentlessly stalks her, resulting in constant violent retaliation from her, though she privately respects his genuine sincerity as a leader. She also shares a deep bond with her childhood friend Yagyu Kyubei, who harbours strong romantic feelings toward her.

Her name is inspired by an associate of the real-world Shinsengumi leader Kondo Isao. Despite her fearlessness in battle, she is surprisingly terrified of ghosts and supernatural spirits. Her talents include exceptional speed at drawing and extraordinary skill at festival goldfish scooping.
