Noro

Overview

Noro is a high-ranking executive of the ghoul organization Aogiri Tree and a trusted aide to the One-Eyed King in Tokyo Ghoul and its sequel Tokyo Ghoul:re. Rated SS or higher, he is feared by both CCG investigators and fellow ghouls for his unsettling mask, eerie silence, and monstrous combat and regenerative capabilities.

Appearance

Noro is a tall, physically imposing figure who wears a mask depicted with a prominent drawn mouth and nose. He has long hair tied back into a ponytail.

Personality

Noro operates in complete silence, never speaking a word during his activities. His behavior is highly unpredictable, alternating between standing completely motionless and launching violent, sudden assaults, which causes even allied ghouls to find him eerie. He possesses an abnormally large appetite. Additionally, he adheres to a strict pattern of carrying a timer, halting combat immediately and walking away the moment his alarm rings.

Abilities

As a Bikaku-type ghoul, Noro unleashes a single massive appendage featuring a gaping, teeth-lined mouth that devours opponents whole. His defining combat asset is an outrageous degree of regeneration; even if his torso is bisected or his upper body destroyed, countless kagune strands emerge from the wounds to instantly reconnect his flesh. Severe damage causes him to enter a frenzied Kakuja state. Defeating him requires sustained, high-output attacks that outpace his healing speed.

Background

Noro was originally a ghoul named Noroi, an old friend of Kuzen from Ward 24 who raised Eto Yoshimura as her foster father. After being killed by pursuers targeting Owl, his corpse was reanimated into a puppet driven by Eto's unique kagune. As an Aogiri Tree executive, he fought formidable foes like Yomo Renji, Uta, and Tsukiyama Shuu, and later severely injured Takizawa Seidou. During the Rose Extermination, he engaged the Ito and Quinx squads, inflicting heavy casualties before being permanently destroyed by Urie Kuki.

Relationships

Noro was an old friend of Kuzen during their time in Ward 24. He raised Eto Yoshimura as her foster father, and after his death, Eto used her kagune to animate his corpse as a puppet. During his final battle against the Quinx Squad, he fatally wounded Shirazu Ginshi before being struck down by Urie Kuki. He also ambushed Takizawa Seidou during the Owl Suppression Operation, severing his arm.

Trivia

Series creator Sui Ishida noted that Noro's extreme regenerative powers made him believe defeating the ghoul would inevitably cost lives, making his defeat by the Quinx Squad somewhat outside his initial plot expectations. Although silent throughout his life, Noro spoke clear words for the first time right before his death. His kakuhou was later processed into the SS-rate quinque Ginkui, wielded by Urie Kuki.
