His defining visual characteristic is a cigarette constantly resting in his mouth. Later in the story, while using a wheelchair, he grows a facial beard.
Personality

Background
Raised in the eastern countryside of Amestris, Jean Havoc joined the military academy after witnessing the impact of the Ishval Civil War. After serving in the East Area Headquarters, he transferred to Central Headquarters with Roy Mustang. During an encounter with the Homunculus Lust, his spine was severed, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down and forcing his medical discharge. He returned home to work at his family's general store while undergoing therapy. During the Central coup, he covertly delivered a truckload of arms and ammunition to aid Mustang's forces. Following the final battle, he receives medical treatment via Tim Marcoh's Philosopher's Stone to regain the ability to walk.
Relationships
Jean Havoc maintains absolute loyalty to his commanding officer, Roy Mustang. He shares a close friendship with Heymans Breda, who was his classmate at the military academy.
