Lieutenant Yoki

Overview

Lieutenant Yoki is a character from Fullmetal Alchemist. Originally a corrupt officer in the Amestrian State Military, he ruthlessly governed the mining town of Youswell. After being tricked by Edward Elric and losing both his rank and wealth, he falls into ruin and eventually becomes a reluctant servant traveling alongside Scar's group, serving as a primary source of comic relief.

Appearance

Yoki is characterized by his slicked-back dark hair and a thin, distinctive mustache. Initially dressed in the blue uniform of an Amestrian military officer, his attire drastically shifts following his discharge, transitioning to worn civilian clothes, miner workwear, and Ishvalan garments.

Personality

Yoki is a greedy and arrogant individual who gladly uses authority to oppress others. However, he is fundamentally cowardly, constantly cowering behind stronger allies and prioritizing his own survival above all else. Though he harbors a deep, one-sided grudge against Edward Elric, his desperate adaptability enables him to endure severe hardship.

Abilities

Yoki possesses no notable alchemy skills or combat abilities. However, he demonstrates surprising resourcefulness when driven into a corner, as well as practical skills such as driving a vehicle, backed by an exceptional capacity for survival.

Background

While imposing crushing taxes on the residents of the Youswell coal mine, Yoki was outsmarted by the Elric brothers into relinquishing his deed to the town, resulting in his immediate dismissal from the military. Reduced to poverty, he encountered Scar in the slums and was coerced into serving as his lackey. From then on, he involuntarily traveled alongside Scar's companions, including May Chang and Dr. Tim Marcoh.

Relationships

Yoki bears a persistent grudge against Edward Elric for tricking him out of his status and wealth. Terrified of the Ishvalan warrior Scar, he acts as his submissive servant. He also travels alongside May Chang and Dr. Tim Marcoh during their journeys.

Trivia

Although introduced as a minor one-off villain in his debut, Yoki later reappears to become a persistent member of the traveling party, earning a unique role as a recurring comic relief figure.
