Appearance
In the 2003 anime adaptation, she is depicted with dark skin and purple eyes, reflecting an original setting that ties Liore to Ishval. She features long dark hair with distinctive pink bangs. Her attire consists of a sleeveless white dress.
Personality
Initially a gentle and vulnerable young woman, she exhibits a reliant nature after losing her loved one and having no family to turn to. Though driven to despair upon learning the truth behind her faith, she develops a profound inner resilience amidst extreme hardship while retaining a compassionate heart.
Abilities
She possesses no magical or physical combat skills, being an ordinary townsperson. Her primary strength lies in her exceptional endurance and ability to survive overwhelming personal and psychological hardship.
Background
Grieving the loss of her boyfriend Cain, she sought comfort in the Leto sect under Father Cornello, who falsely promised to restore her lover to life. After the Elric brothers exposed the religion as a scam, she fell into despair until Edward urged her to move forward. Following the turmoil in Liore, she was detained by the military, an ordeal that rendered her mute and pregnant. She was subsequently hailed as a 'Holy Mother' by Scar before being taken to an underground city by Dante. She ultimately regained her senses and survived the ordeal.
Relationships
She was deeply attached to her late boyfriend, Cain, and was manipulated by Father Cornello under false pretenses. Her encounter with Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric forced her to face reality, with Edward encouraging her to forge her own path. She later developed a complex dynamic with Dante (inhabiting Lyra's body) while confined in the underground city. Following these events, she moved in with Winry Rockbell and her family.
Trivia
Regarding the unusually tragic storyline assigned to her in the 2003 anime, manga creator Hiromu Arakawa noted in an interview that the depiction may have crossed the line of entertainment for a shonen manga, while still expressing overall appreciation for the anime's original character developments.
