Overview

Kamen Rider Wizard is the titular protagonist of Kamen Rider Wizard. Transformed by Souma Haruto using the Wizardriver and magical Wizard Rings, he is known as the Ring-Bearing Magician. Harboring the giant Phantom WizarDragon within himself, he channels its magical energy through his equipment to freely manipulate element-based magic and protect people from Phantoms. Within his series, he is referred to simply as the Wizard or the Wizard of Rings rather than a Kamen Rider. Utilizing his versatile styles starting with his base fire-attributed Flame Style, he fights using an acrobatic, stylish combat approach.

Appearance

He wears a long black coat known as the Wizard Robe, which can expand to serve as a defensive shield. His mask features a ring-shaped aesthetic with a jewel-like face made of Druid Crystal and Sorcarium, lacking traditional compound eyes. The shoulders feature dragon-pattern emblem engravings, while his chest armor, wristbands, and anklets change in shape and color according to his active form. The top signal on his head remains consistently yellow. In his baseline Flame Style, his helmet crystal is red and circular. His transformation belt is equipped with a ring holder on its left side.

Personality

Driven by a profound commitment to be the ultimate hope for others, he approaches battles with an unyielding mindset and a confident composure. Before initiating combat, he frequently invites his opponents to witness a showtime performance. Beneath his cool and relaxed demeanor, he possesses a distinct sweet tooth, particularly favoring plain sugar donuts, which adds an approachable side to his heroic persona.

Abilities

He shifts between forms attuned to the four natural elements: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. Water Style grants aquatic movement and high magic power, Hurricane Style allows high-speed flight, and Land Style maximizes physical defense and strength. Because he wears rings on his fingers, his martial style avoids standard punches, relying instead on high kicks and his dual-form weapon, the WizarSwordGun, which switches between sword and gun modes. Using specialized magic gear like the Drago Timer, he can summon multiple elemental manifestations to fight simultaneously, while higher forms such as Infinity Style provide extreme speed and defensive toughness.

Background

After surviving a tragic solar eclipse ritual that transformed human sacrifices into monsters, he resisted complete despair and sealed a Phantom inside his own body, obtaining magical powers. Given a transformation belt and rings by a mysterious white magician, he set out to protect potential victims from Phantoms trying to drive them into despair. He continues his battles while sharing his magical energy to sustain the life of Koyomi, acting as a protector against demonic threats.

Relationships

He shares an exceptionally strong bond with Koyomi, a mysterious girl whom he sustains by regularly supplying his own magical energy. He also forms a close alliance with Kosuke Nitoh, also known as Kamen Rider Beast, working together to defeat Phantoms despite their contrasting personalities and occasional rivalries.

Trivia

He holds the distinction of being the first primary protagonist in the Kamen Rider franchise to feature magic as his central motif. To prevent young viewers wearing toy rings from injuring themselves while imitating his moves, his fight choreography was intentionally designed to focus on dynamic kicks and weapon play rather than punching.
