Overview

Riderman is a hero character appearing in the tokusatsu series Kamen Rider V3 and subsequent entries in the franchise. He is the transformed state of Jouji Yuki, a brilliant former scientist of the evil organization Destron who lost his right arm to a cruel execution attempt. Equipping an altered reinforcement suit and a unique multi-functional prosthetic, he initially sets out on a personal quest before being recognized as Kamen Rider 4.

Appearance

Riderman's distinct visual element is a helmet structure that leaves his human mouth and lower jaw completely exposed. Upon completing his activation sequence, the specialized armor covers his body while his right arm is fitted with a multi-purpose mechanical prosthetic. His transport, the Riderman Machine, resembles a normal motorcycle in outer appearance but features custom modifications, including a seat compartment designed to hold his helmet and prosthetic attachments.

Personality

Originally a dedicated scientist driven by high ideals, Jouji Yuki turned fierce and vengeful after suffering a cruel betrayal by his superiors. Initially blinded by a single-minded desire for revenge, his core nature remains rooted in courage, sharp intellect, and strong conviction. Once he sees through deception, he regains a profound sense of justice and loyalty, showing readiness to face overwhelming danger alongside trusted allies.

Abilities

Riderman relies on his specialized right arm attachment known as the Cassette Arm, which can swap functional units depending on combat needs. Options include a grapple-hook Rope Arm, a spiked Swing Arm, a capturing Net Arm, a crescent-bladed Power Arm, and a wall-piercing Drill Arm. Changing these units takes approximately three seconds. His helmet enhances visual perception, allowing high-speed tracking, while his custom motorcycle provides advanced mobility.

Background

Jouji Yuki was a high-IQ researcher for Destron who was framed by Marshal Armor out of professional jealousy. Escaping execution at the cost of his right arm thanks to loyal assistants, he converted his prosthetic into a weapon and resolved to take revenge. His initial encounters with Kamen Rider V3 were strained by conflicting goals, but he ultimately learned the truth about Destron and chose to protect humanity. His sacrificial act to stop a weapon of mass destruction earned him lasting respect as a genuine Rider.

Relationships

He shares a profound bond with Shiro Kazami (Kamen Rider V3), moving from turbulent clashes over their respective beliefs to a strong, mutual partnership. He harbor intense enmity toward Marshal Armor, the commander responsible for framing him and taking his right arm. Throughout various battles, he also builds dependable ties with subsequent masked heroes across generations.

Trivia

The directional orientation of his belt buckle occasionally inverted between episodes and guest appearances due to prop assembly differences. Lore expanded in secondary works attributes his armor's origins to a repurposed enemy plan for synthetic Riders. Despite not being the titular lead of his debut series, he frequently enjoys high-profile inclusion alongside primary lead heroes in cross-generational team-up media.
