Overview

Misaki Yuriko is the central heroine from the tokusatsu series Kamen Rider Stronger. A 17-year-old high school-aged girl transformed into the cyborg warrior Electro Wave Human Tackle, she fights alongside the protagonist Jo Shigeru against evil organizations. She stands as one of the earliest prominent female combat partners in the franchise.

Appearance

Yuriko is depicted with long black hair and dark eyes. Early on, she wears her hair in wavy, loose curls, which she later ties up into tails or a bound style as the story progresses. In her civilian attire, she wears hair bows and outfits that expose her collarbone.

Personality

Yuriko is remarkably strong-willed, competitive, and straightforward. She frequently bickers with Jo Shigeru over battlefield accomplishments and can be headstrong, often rushing into combat alone against the advice of Tachibana Tobei. However, her stubbornness stems from an underlying insecurity about her limited combat specs relative to Shigeru. Unwilling to be a burden, her recklessness is driven by a deep desire to ease his hardship, masking her profound trust in him.

Abilities

She possesses the ability to transform into Electro Wave Human Tackle. Even without transforming, Yuriko can effortlessly defeat standard combat foot-soldiers in hand-to-hand combat. Because she escaped before undergoing brainwashing and final physical reinforcement, her combat capabilities are inferior to fully modified monsters. Her most devastating ability is the Ultra Cyclone, a dangerous, self-sacrificial ultimate attack that her incomplete body cannot withstand.

Background

Yuriko and her brother Mamoru were abducted by the evil syndicate Black Satan and modified into ladybug-themed cyborgs. Rescued by Jo Shigeru right before her brainwashing was completed, she joined forces with him and Tachibana Tobei to dismantle the syndicate. After defeating Black Satan, the even deadlier Delza Army emerged. During a battle against Doctor Kate, Yuriko was infected with lethal poison. Keeping her doomed condition hidden from Shigeru, she fought one final battle, destroying her enemy with the lethal attack Ultra Cyclone at the cost of her life.

Relationships

She shares a spirited partnership with Jo Shigeru (Kamen Rider Stronger), constantly arguing over battle tactics while harboring unspoken devotion. Tachibana Tobei acts as her mentor, worrying over her recklessness; he is the sole confidant she informs of her impending death. She also has an older brother named Mamoru. Her enemies include Black Satan's monsters, General Shadow's forces, and Doctor Kate of the Delza Army.

Trivia

Production staff heavily debated her dramatic departure during the original show's run, initially considering a plotline where secondary surgery saved her life before settling on her heroic death. Her sacrifice left a lasting mark on the franchise, revisited in derivative works such as the manga Kamen Rider Spirits. In certain alternative adaptations like the novelization, her background is re-imagined as a psychic rather than a cyborg.
