Yellow Buster

Overview

Yellow Buster is a primary superheroine from the Tokusatsu series Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, serving as the transformed alter-ego of Youko Usami. As the sole female warrior among the initial core team, she fights alongside her allies to protect energy resources and defend humanity from malicious forces such as Messiah. Characterized by her exceptional agility and strong leg strength, she operates in unison with her dedicated Buddyroid companion, Usada Lettuce. In addition to the main television series, she has featured prominently across various crossover feature films within the Super Sentai franchise.

Appearance

In her civilian identity as Youko Usami, she is depicted with brown hair gathered into a low ponytail and brown eyes. When she transforms into Yellow Buster, she equips a tactical combat suit that uses yellow as its primary color theme and incorporates distinctive visual motifs based on a rabbit.

Personality

Youko Usami possesses a spirited and determined personality, often exhibiting a headstrong and energetic demeanor. Being the youngest member of the core team, she acts as a younger sister figure, occasionally showing a rebellious yet affectionate side toward her teammates. She maintains a strong sense of justice and refuses to yield when confronting adversaries in battle.

Abilities

Yellow Buster specializes in a combat style driven by nimble movement and remarkable leg strength. Her signature technique is the Rabbit Kick, an attack performed by spinning like a drill while diving from high altitude. When enhancing her form into Powered Custom by integrating with Usada Lettuce, she gains the ability to construct physical footholds mid-air, allowing her to make full use of her superior jumping capabilities and high-altitude mobility.

Background

Having been recruited to the team following a tragic past event, Youko Usami fought as Yellow Buster to protect vital energy and humanity against the threat of Messiah and his forces. Throughout her operations, she engaged in repeated fierce confrontations against the villainous Escape. Beyond the main storyline of Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, she participated in major crossover battles alongside Kamen Riders and Space Sheriffs, and her suit form later reappeared in Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger via a transformational Gokai Change by Gokai Yellow.

Relationships

She shares a close bond with her assigned Buddyroid partner, Usada Lettuce, with whom she frequently squabbles yet trusts completely, enabling their synergy in Powered Custom mode. Her teammates, Hiromu Sakurada and Ryuji Iwasaki, serve as constant companions with whom she shares a family-like connection despite occasional arguments. Additionally, she maintains a recurring rivalry with the enemy commander Escape, engaging in multiple combat encounters against her.

Trivia

Furthermore, portrayed by male suit actor Yuichi Hachisuka, she remained the final female Sentai hero played by a male suit actor in a main television series for eleven years, until Papillon Oger appeared in Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger. Additionally, her actress, Arisa Komiya, later made guest appearances in the Kamen Rider series.
