Overview
Ban is a key character from the series The Seven Deadly Sins. Belonging to the titular order of Holy Knights, he bears the title of the Fox's Sin of Greed and is also widely known as Undead Ban. Formerly a notorious thief, he serves as the highly skilled chef for the Boar Hat tavern. Despite a harsh past, he demonstrates intense loyalty and devotion to his friends and loved ones.
Appearance
Ban is an exceptionally tall, muscular man with short silver hair and crimson eyes, characterized by a sharp visage and a scar stretching from his neck to his cheek. He bears a fox tattoo on the left side of his abdomen. His signature outfit consists of crimson clothing, though he often goes shirtless during battle or dons an apron while cooking. His hairstyle has varied over time, from short in his youth to shoulder-length as a knight and an unkempt long look with a beard while imprisoned, before returning to a short cut.
Personality
Ban displays a relaxed, sing-song speech pattern and a carefree demeanor. True to his sin, he is intensely fixated on matters that pique his interest while remaining indifferent toward things he cares little about. Despite his reckless streak, he is remarkably grounded, acting as a sensible presence when others lose their composure. He values his close companions deeply, showing fierce anger if they are harmed, and enjoys brewing and drinking alcohol despite being easily intoxicated.
Abilities
Ban possesses the magic power Snatch, allowing him to steal physical objects as well as physical specs and magical power from opponents without direct contact. Through techniques like Physical Hunt and Hunter Fest, he absorbs enemy attributes to temporarily enhance his own abilities, and he can erase his presence completely using Zero Sign. Having consumed the Fountain of Youth, he acquired complete immortality and absolute regeneration. His Sacred Treasure is Courechouse, a four-section staff that maximizes his speed and precision in battle.
Background
Raised in harsh conditions and taught to steal by a beastman named Zhivago, Ban grew up as a bandit. Seeking immortality, he invaded the King's Forest and met the fairy maiden Elaine. During a demon attack, Elaine saved his life by gifting him the Fountain of Youth, making him immortal. He was later recruited into the Seven Deadly Sins by Meliodas. After the group was framed for treason, Ban allowed himself to be confined in Baste Dungeon, only breaking out years later upon hearing that Meliodas was still alive.
Relationships
Ban shares a uniquely close, competitive friendship with his captain, Meliodas, whom he affectionately addresses with a shortened title. His heart belongs to Elaine, the Fairy Princess, whose revival becomes his primary driving motivation. Through Elaine, he is linked to her brother King; despite initial hostility over past events, the two function effectively as partners. Ban also holds a playful respect for the talking pig Hawk, addressing him as Master, while the holy knight apprentice Jericho develops romantic feelings for him.
Trivia
Despite his high actual age, Ban remains biologically young due to his immortal nature, making him the second youngest among the Seven Deadly Sins in terms of species origin. He has a persistent habit of casually stealing clothes, weapons, and items that catch his eye. His exceptional cooking skills make him the primary culinary provider for the Boar Hat tavern.
